Weight Watchers confusion!!!

dpadula

High End Bro

I'm 32/m 5'10" 370lbs 51% bodyfat.
I'm am thinking of trying Weight Watchers again, but they recommend 1500-1800 cals a day, while I am being told here to multiply my current weight by 10 and thats the cals I shoud be eating to lose weight.
What is the better way to lose body fat?? 1500-1800 cals or 3700???
Cardio 30-40 mins a day 4-5 x's a week good?

First, FORGET WEIGHT WATCHERS...................2ndly, post your diet and we will help.........

Whats a matter with weight watchers? It may not be for bodybuilders but for someone trying to loose weight in general it seems good. It's a well planned out program. Also studies show that if people join into such a program that the added support helps keep them on track. If you're just looking to loose weight its simple cals in cals out which is what the WW is based on. No need to completely disregard it. I agree that posting your diet for critique is a good start though.

I don't think WW is the best plan, but it's not bad as a starting point. If you need it, the support can be helpful. As a man, the 1500-1800 cals per day is kind of low, too low IMO, which is why I don't like WW. On cals that low, of course you will lose weight.

IMO, start by figuring out what type of eater you are. Are you a binger, grazer, snacker, etc? What are your food triggers? Will you be satisfied replacing your favorite food/snack with something else? Are you emotionally attached to a certain food(s)? Can you break the emotional attachment?

By asking yourself these questions and being honest with yourself, you can start the process of becoming a healthier person.

Remember, carbs & fats are not your enemy. Processed foods are! Pre-packaged foods with all the added chemicals, etc are not good for you. You need complex carbs & healthy fats in your diet along with protein.

Again, WW is a start, but keep an open mind that you may eventually "outgrow" it.

There are pluses and minuses for Weight Watchers IMO. The plus is that it provides a support group (similar to AA). Lets face it, food is an addiction - people simply cannot control themselves - most people know what is good for them but choose to eat crap because it tastes good. For the most part, this board wouldn't be necessary if people could control themselves - and most would be in optimal shape as well. I personally wouldn't use it but I can control myself. :)

A major negative is that it allows you to eat very bad processed foods but simply attempts to limit it by allowing a set number of "points" per day. You never kick the food addiction and ultimately you fail.

Post some pictures and give some specific stats (i.e. measurements of waists/arms/calfs etc..). 51% is VERY high and you'll need to show us that you're at that level before help is given.

PM me your doctors info, I'll call him/her up to verify this is not a BS post and we'll go from there.

Read the rest of my post. There are pros & cons to almost everything. For someone @ %51 body fat it would be better than nothing. You tend to disregard anything that isn't "your way" or hasn't "worked for you". Maybe you would suggest that he breathe out of his nose, rather than mouth?
