Weak wrists/wrist pain

I am having great difficulty of late going heavy on curls. Straight barbell curls are impossible so I have had to stick with curl bar and dumbells but it seems Im feeling pain in my wrists and not hitting my bicep because if the agony im in. Im not taking anything at the moment and the only joint im having problems with is my wrists (both).

If I rotate my wrists I can hear three clicks during the rotation and it kinda feels like they will dislocate while doing curls. Is there anything I can take OTC to help this. It is really starting to piss me off now so any help you can give would be great.

It might be worth saying that my wrists have been like this for years before I started lifting but recently they have gotten much much worse. I also have very small wrists/hands but I doubt that has anything to do with it.

Thanks

I'd like to hear some responses on this as well. I was recently doing reverse curls and my wrist popped. There was some pain, and I ceased lifting for a week.

I had that happen to me last September. I went to the doctor to have it checked out and he said I had DeQuervain's Tenosynovitis in my left wrist. It's similar to carpul tunnel.

He put me on Naproxen and told me to stay out of the gym until it healed. I didn't, I wore a brace and it eventually got better. I'm not sure if this is the same problem you had...but the symptoms for me were: sharp pain when using my wrist for any exercise and clicking when I moved my thumb (not painful, but really annoying).

They told me to ice it 2 or 3 times a day and wear a brace while I sleep. I did that for about a month and a half and it got better. Good luck with yours...I hope it's easier to fix for you.

for weak wrists training forearms helps a lot... how is your forearm workout??

I cannot do any forarm excercises because of the weak wrists... hurts doing anything involving wrist (i.e. up down movement of wrist) so Its a catch 22 I guess.

Hmmm...can you do wrist curls with the 5's? What about the 2.5's?

Statis BB or DB holds? No movement of the wrist, but can strengthen your forearms considerably.
