Vegetarian Cutting Diet?

Actually, humans are designed to be herbivores. I used to work in the medical field and if you speak with a knowledgeable Gasto. he will tell you, our digestive tracks are not equipped to to digest meat properly.
Not going to have a debate on meat vs non meat eaters. This is neither a peta or religious thing, consumption is a personal choice.

Babe ... by the look of the transformation in you avatar whatever the hell your eating is working . LOL

txmike, this may be a stupid question, but, why are you running a cutting cycle if you are vegan? i have never known a plant eater that needed to cut, they all have needed to eat some meat to gain weight ...

I'm an ova-lacto, vegetarian. I don't eat meat and choose not to eat a few other foods for spiritual reasons. A vegan eats no animal products or byproducts. It's been a long time, so I don't argue for or against vegetarianism.

I knew a fresh and raw vegan who was proud of her new body after 7 years on her diet. She was 15 pounds over weight, because she liked avocados and could get them almost free anytime. Avocadoes are 80% fat just like butter. They have a better fat, but that's still a lot of calories.

About 5 years ago I had a series of events throw me a curve that weren't too nice. Part of my response was to eat. I'm 6'5", about 350 and 28%bf. I'm strong and solid under a coat of fat. During the past few years I've dieted off the same 60 pounds 4 times. My goal is to get to 270-280 solid.

Recently a former pro bodybuilder offered to help me reach my goals. I'm doing it now in a different way thanks to him and a lot of good people on this board. He doesn't understand vegetarian diets and weightlifting. Mostly he'll tell me what I need to do and then I find out how to put it into my life.

Thanks for the tips on food choices. If anyone has a vegetarian cutting diet they've tried, I'd sure like to check it out.

Nuts, like almonds, are high in protein, but they are also high in fat. Raw nuts have a substance that inactivates enzymes so the nut won't grow until water washes it away. If you like almonds, try buying raw and soaking them in water for 3 days. Change the water every day. This sprouts them. They become sweeter and the protein is more available.

What's really odd to me on this diet and these products I'm taking, is that it's hard to eat enough to get in all my protein. This has really curbed my appetite and cravings. That's great, but I'm supposed to get 350g protein in my diet per day?

Thanks ya'all.....close Solidspine...I grew up in Wisconsin :)

Nuts are high in fats, but not the fats that make you fat. They have the unsaturated fats and essential fats needed. Course if you eat 1/2 lbs, the calories will be too much, but a small handful of almonds a day will in NO WAY add fat on your body.

The prob. with vegans or vegatarians, is they suppliment their diets with foods that tend to be fillers. Like breads, pasta's etc.
You can always google some good vegans site (their msg boards) they prob have a ton of good info for you.
I understand your plight...tough finding choices in this case.
Good luck

Thats cool but I still disagree. Humans survived Ice ages by being carnivorous. I do not feel most Vegans look healthy and I still disagree about Homo Sapiens not being predators. Name an herbivore with forward facing eyes and canines and a medium length bowel tract. Herbivors eyes are designed for 180 degree sight. (so they are not eaten while grazing they can see behind them.) They have flat teeth designed to grind plant matter and usually more than one stomach and the ability to reguratate their cud. I also do not hold with most docs and their nutrition advice as they have about 6hrs nutrition training...sad actually. Plant protiens are of low biological value so its difficult to get enough complete protien without getting to much carb. Every other Primate is an Omnivore...why would we be different...we aree just animals really.

Many dr's have few hrs of nutrician experience, but I not talking about those guys. I am talking about the dr's who actually study the human digestive track. Nutrician does not pertain to their research.
Like I said, to eat meat or not is a very personal choice. Some ppl actually get ill (very ill) eating an animal. They just cannot bring themself to eat a dead animal. Some ppl can....to each his own.

Any fat can potentially make you fat. 1 gram of fat is 9 calories, doesn't change with the "type" that it is. One might be healthier for your heart, but they all do the same to the waistline if they are pushing you over your caloric needs.
