speaking of "cupping" I was in a large dept store awhile back.. wearing a short skirt... but not too short.. mid thigh length, the little flowing cute kind... I was standing waiting for my former husband to get something... I felt a hand slide up my skirt and just cup my ass right below my crack... he kinda just nudged it right up in there... I truned around thinking it was my husband... NOPE... it was a little chinaman with a friggin foo manchu hanging off his chin, with the biggest smile on earth..... he was about 4 feet tall and so frail... OMG!!!!!!!!! scared the shit out of me.. made his day.... I didn't do anything, let him go, I can just imagine how much shit that old fart gets away with just by virtue of his age. He looked about 90.

HOLY...that is messed up! I would have grabbed the old fart and told him off.

I had a 70 yr old customer of mine (a very weathly man) grab my ass when I went out to dinner with him. I was shocked! I ended the night right there and stoped giving him my biz. He lost a 300,000 contract b/c of the grab to my ass. I have ZERO tolerance for this shit.
If someone touched my elbow, I could care less. My shoulder, who cares but if I am touched or addressed in any sexual unprofessional way, damn straight I will get the jerk busted!

Well, kinda. But you still have to tell them, "what you are doing is unwelcome" unless it's obvious shit grabbing tits/ass like bigmann said up above.

The courts have ruled differently for different jobs, interestingly. Example: If you work in a cop shop the harassment will have to be more extreme because of the nature of the job/environment. The courts take into account the entirety of each situation.

Also what act is performed....if some creep is just asking you out, he'd have to be doing it every single day over a period of time to be considered harrassment (hostile work environment). But something like grabbing an ass only needs to happen once.

I often encounter this when working with new clients. I was always taught to ask permission to touch somebody before you do it so now it's an automatic thing when I'm assessing someone at the gym. But often especially with female clients I touch them in what might be considered inappropriate places (hips, abs, etc) - good thing I'm not in the US or I probably would have been sued by now. Plus I think some of them like being touched in a way that their husbands probably never do anymore .

yeah, you could probably take that court if you wanted to. i wonder what would happen. i mean i think the touching laws are the same for men as they are for women, right? aside from the fact that you cant touch a woman's chest.

but i think what happens is that women tend to press charges more often than men do. maybe for good reason too, since women feel more threatened by a man doing that.
