is it possible to have too much water, and if so what are the negative effects other than just feeling a bit full.

or if u drink too much ull just piss it out

Yes, it can kill you. But I doubt you will drink that much. It's more of a danger to endurance athletes.

The risk isn't so much the water the change in body chemestry draining your bodies electrolytes. So if you do run a marathon and drink a lot of water, get your sodium tabs or drink stuff with a balanced electrolyte setup (Ultima Replenisher).

so like chugging a liter of water right now with my tuna in about 30 minutes isnt enough to kill me tho right?

like how much does it take or is it only work if ur sweating out all ur electrolytes without putting new ones in

I really doubt that you could do it like that.

If you've ever run a marathon in warm weather, you might get the desire to drink a LOT more water over a short period of time. Then it might be an issue.

When I was in a 45 minute spinning class, I'd regularly drink a half gallon of Ultima in that period of time. I sweat a lot.

I think the folks in this article drank several gallons because they were taking so long to run the race and would stop and chug.

That talks about the study that got so much ink. A lot of stupid people at the NYT gave it ink - even their editorial page talked about it.

The term is Hyponatremia if you want to google that.

The condition 'Hyponatremia' refers to a low sodium level within the blood. Although it can occur from drinking water to excess (hyperhydration) it is more likely to result from dehydration, diuretics, antidepressants, vomiting, diarrhea, severe burns, kidney failure or cirrhosis. To overcome this concern, endurance athletes will drink carbohydrate / electrolyte based drinks during the race as well as applying salt to their foods several days prior to the event.
