Toe platform shoes? Good / suck ?

Shoes with the platform in the front making you walk on the 'balls' of your feet. Are they any good? Do you just walk around them as you normailly would?

I was hoping to build more calve and ankle strength.

Putting those on for deads or cleans would be an awesome workout...

lend me your thoughts please.

They're pretty hard on your achilles tendon, they do load up the calf muscle pretty well, but I doubt you would be able to do any sort of weight training on em, balance is a problem.

Just walk around in em a few tiems a week and the calf size will pile on. Pretty painful though.

I ahve heard of people tearing their achilles using em when runninga nd jumping in em, so be careful.

Wont build ankle strength, wobble boards and Jump stretch bands are better for that

I used them in track at IU... I'll tell you I was out for around 3-4 months with a severe achilles tendon strain... I trained very hard, of course... I couldn't walk for about 3 days... and then needed therapy and was ready to go for the season... but I don't think they are that good.

You'll get much more JUMP out of training with jump ropes for speed, height and one-legged jumps... along with plyometrics.. if you are trying to increase your vertical that is...
