To CKD, or not to CKD?

Hey all, want some opinions from folks who have PROPERLY ran a CKD diet for any length of time. Looking to hit the road to shredville for the next 8 weeks, and am currently in the process of revamping my diet, and have just recently started to consider giving a CKD an honest shot.

I have tried it before, but I admit that I did it very "hack" like, and did a few things wrong, the biggest being not taking in enough fat. I only also ran it for 2 weeks, so I didnt give it a real chance. I did feel like shit, felt like my workouts suffered HUGE, and was not overly impressed with results. But like I mentioned above, I only ran it for 2 weeks, and it was pretty much a hack job.

So .. I am looking for some feedback. I know that I can do things well with a balanced diet, but I am always up for changing things up. I have a much better understanding of the CKD diet now, and am seriously considering giving it a shot for the next 8 weeks.

Just want to here some feedback on how peeps have made out with a CKD, and more importantly how it compared to a balanced diet? Did you find it more effective? Faster? Did you find that your workouts suffered? I really have a heard time thinking that my workouts wont suffer without carbs, and surely a carb up day, cant fuel your workouts for the whole week? Lets here some feedback. Convince me to try one, or to stay away from them? lol.

Thanks,
Mavy

Thanks bro .. you did follow it to a T right? just want to be sure your reports arent because of how I ran it the first time.

Thanks for the feedback bro.

Yeah, to a T. Protein came from fish, chicken, egg whites, beef, etc. Fat from Udo's choice. This has got to be the worst tasting diet I've been on to top it off... the only thing I was slacking on was the workouts.. since I didn'T have any energy/motivation. So that might be part of the failure but all in all, I just can't recommend it. Though I know many had great results from it.

Mavy...just go "lower" carb.........eat your carbs in your first 3 meals....last 3, switch to fat protein.....do cardio first thing in the am on an empty tank and eat an hour after.........trust me..........It got me down sub 7%

Solid advice. Especially if you lift in the AM too on non-cardio days.

I did that and dropped from 20+% to 10% over a 4-5 month period and my strength didn't go down at all. I easily could have got more ripped too given more time, but switched to bulking once I hit 10%.

I tried CKD in the past and found it wasn't for me either (lost WAY too much strength).

Thanks guys, Kurz, sounds like we are switching diets. lol.
That is what I normally do, ususally more protien and fats on days off especially, and more carbs on training days. No hi GI carbs excpet post-workout, and probably during as well. Hmm ... I wonder why so many people swear by CKDs?

Lets see your diet....I'm the man when it comes to cutting, but gaining weight, I'm such a newbie............you like my diet bro? I worked pretty hard on it..........its just short of "anything goes"..............

I ran it for 4-5 weeks (the first 2 weeks protein intake was too high) and went from 205 to 190. Also though it was when I just started lifting again. Not sure if the results were typical or not because I was making newbie muscle gains.

Sure felt like shit the first 2 weeks, after that, it was no problem. I was happy to get off it though.
