Thinking about making a Honda drag car.

I'm looking for anyone with experience creating major hp in a late model vtec Honda. I'd like to get a '99 or newer Honda with a twin cam vtec and add a centrifugal Vortech supercharger and an aftermarket ECU to manage the new fuel requirements.

Both my bf and my stepdad will be helping me and we have all the tools we need. We just lack experience and both me and my bf would look to correspond with someone who's done this kind of thing before.

Thanks. :) :)

there's a lot of good auto boards out there.....I cruise the subabru ones occasionally, and the celica ones back when I had my celica.....

Not to be rude, but um, dump that piece of crap and get a real car if you want to drag race... (sorry that came out bad)

there are tons of boards for high performance import cars out there, matter a fact i was on one the other day that was pretty good, I think they're cool, cost a lot of money to get serious HP out of them. i'm much more into 5.0's

What's real car in your opinion?

And here's my retort.
90hp per litre from a normally aspirated stock engine that typically lasts 300 thousand miles or better isnt a piece of crap. And for about 3K you can consistently run the quarter mile in 11 seconds.

real car....

there's one. just be careful of what info you pull off the net. a lot of people think they can just slap an exhaust on their car and they've gained hp. yes, you can gain hp, but the real question is, did you gain hp in one area and LOSE it in another? that's where tuning and dyno testing comes into play.

my suggestion is to find a shop in your area that specializes in doing things like this. get their advice, and see if they have a dyno and an EGA (exhaust gas analyzer) and all the goodies needed to make sure your car is running right after you upgrade some parts.

whatever you do, don't rice the thing out and make it look and sound stupid. contact Flowmaster about their mufflers. i had to replace the stock muffer on our 96 Civic because it was rusting real bad. a stock muffler cost 3x as much as aftermarket. i called Flowmaster and they assured me that they hated the sound of "fart cannons" just as much as i did and that their mufflers would not make my car sound like that. they were right.

i agree with your statement about hp to displacement ratio of imports. there aren't many cars that you can squeeze over 200hp out of and still get 25+ mpg. find one that's slightly older, maybe mid-90s, and turn it into a sleeper. i'm a big fan of classic muscle cars myself. nothing beats the sound of a worked V8 rumbling or screaming it's way up to redline. but the everyday drivability and reliability of a classic car isn't always the best. if it was, i'd have one as a daily driver (if i could afford it).
