The Unhealthy Obsession with Hollywood (male?) stars.

It amazes me how obsessed many guys are about Hollywoood stars. Maybe its interesting to point out someone as a "body type" for the sake of discussion ... but far too many guys on these boards are far far too obsessed with male movie stars.

It's interesting how lazy many guys have become. I am sorry, but I really think many guys on this board are young kids who dont know what its like to really work out, and be disciplined. Juice? Ed Norton? Tobey spiderman Maguire ? Get real here. Neither was THAT jacked at all. Big deal. They dropped a bit of body fat, added a bit of mass. Frankly a half decent physique and good lighting with well-applied body makeup (yes, they can "draw" abs on you) can make a half-decent physique look like what Norton did in Am. History X.

WHY DO MANY OF YOU GUYS ASSUME THAT ANY HALF DECENT BODY HAD TO BE CREATED USING JUICE?!?!?! How lazy are people becoming? Ed Norton? Carrot Top? Vin Diesel? Brad Pitt? EVERY ONE OF THEIR PHYSIQUES can be accomplished naturally by most men if they simply stay focused and dedicated to a program, including working out AND DIET over time.

Many of the rants I see are people being jealous about wanting everyone ELSE to somehow worship them and their body. DO THIS SPORT FOR YOURSELF, NOT FOR PEOPLE TO ADORE YOU. Security, confidence, and belief in yourself comes from INSIDE, not from somehow getting "everyone else" to worship you.

Some guys work at getting big big big and then get pissed when their bloated selves hear people admire the ripped and toned look of the fitness model (and Tobey Maguire) types. Other guys work to get ripped ripped ripped and then whine when others admire size, shear strenth and mass. DO THIS FOR YOURSELF. CHOOSE YOUR TARGETS AND GOALS AND BE IN IT FOR YOU.

If you are working out just for the approval of others, that's a lot of time and effort lost on a lost cause. You will NEVER get everyone else to agree on what the "ideal" physique is.

And get off the fascination with the Male Stars. These people have an ENTIRE TEAM OF VERY TALENTED PEOPLE WHOSE VERY JOB IT IS TO MAKE THEM LOOK GOOD. Makeup, Hair, abs drawn on, lighting done to cast shadows which make them look more ripped, a precise amount of oil or water srayed on them to make their physique look its best, Cameras, and photographic pros whose very JOB it is to Bring Out The Best in the Star. MILLIONS OF DOLLARS are behind the movie as a PRODUCT and there is a huge team of competant professionals who very job it is to MAXIMIZE the look of the Stars.

And guys get all concerned over looking like wittle Tobey, or like Eddie Norton.

Instead of renting DVDs and staring a guy's abs, why not go to the gym and work out? Or put down that big ass jar of peanut butter which most guys "bulk" with, and do some cardio? Or maybe just watch your diet?

Guys - Reality check time.

Have you ever seen pics of FEMALE movie stars with and without makeup? Its unreal - the difference. Cameron Diaz and Pam Anderson are prime examples, of how AMAZING a difference can be made using the right makeup (without makeup these chicks are SCARY looking. Trust me.) Well guys, they may not be AS good at making up men's bodies, but making male stars look great is an industry, so stop worrying about it.

One exception - Stallone was sorta obvious in the later Rocky movies. Granted. But you guys who mention ANY of these other names and inquire what "gear" they were on, are embarassing yourselves.

Come on guys, focus on the right things.

Choose YOUR goals and go for THAT.

Stop obsessing over male stars and what they are "on".

Sure, at times its fine to point out a certain "body type" as means to have a discussion, but (with the exception of Stallone) every star I mention above, every one , has/had a body that you can get without any gear at all.

Im glad you said this.
I dont post on this section much but I have competed in my younger days and am still big on fitness, and what I see today is amazing, and I mean that in a bad way.
As Riker said, #1 do this for yourself. Not to impress a girl or to look good for a day at the beach this summer. You have to be in this for the long haul.

And #2, yes I can vouch for how shitty movie stars look when they are not done up by professional illusion makers.

Finally #3, guys for the love of God dont chastize someone if they want Brad Pitts body or Vin Diesel's body. Sure, these guys dont use anabolics, but different strokes for different folks. Sorry to go off on a tangent on your topic Riker, but anyone with any sort of intelligence would realize that 95% of women would choose Brad Pitt's body over Lee Priest's body. So, to recap, dont dog each other just because their goals may not be the same as yours.

I don't think anyone is obsessed...but you DID just write a shitload about male movie stars...makes me wonder;)

But seriously...The other day someone asked why ed norton was so jacked in american history X, then posted some pic of him where he was about as jacked as a 12 year old girl.

Although I agree that most of the guys mentioned aren't very big, Vin Diesel actually has a decent amount of size to him. I met him in Philly during the X Games and he was quite big up close. Although I was much smaller at the time too. I'm not saying he juices though, because with his background (black/italian), he likely has good genetics for muscle.

LOL, nah, I just see it for what it is. So many guy keep asking about the "stars" and I dont think its healthy for them. Really.

To be honest many chicks are into that lean look anyway. The key is though to choose what YOU wnat and go for THAT. Be proud of that, and yoru own accomplishments.

But this asumption that many guys have, that anyone who looks fit and healthy must have used gear, is not good for anyone. It places far far far too much importance on what gear is and does and can do, and takes the emphasis away from stuff like training and diet.
