Thanks Vix! You are right in that we should teach them to love their bodies. Sex and nudity should never be considered dirty. I agree totally.
As others have pointed out.....I know she will eventually be exposed to all of this porn stuff on the Internet, hell I'm not that ignorant but I would at least get the chance to explain certain things before she sees them plastered all over the monitor. She has occassionally mentioned vertain words to me and what do they mean and I have spent entire evenings explaining them to her in terms she can understand so she will not be disillusioned as to the what her friends say. Parenting is real tough and for those who are not parents, we cannot describe it to them. You just have to experience it!

I know she will do things as she ages that will disappoint me and my wife but that's part of loosening the reins on her. It is expected. I just don't want her to be in a situation and not have the courage to say NO. Of course, she is very athletic and tomboyish so if she gets into that situation, maybe she can just whip the guy's ass!

HumorMe just make sure that you don't just trust NetNanny to do the job for. Alot of things get through it and that site would have been one.

I guess if we had not just switched from 56k to DSL, I would have had time to react a little faster about closing the window but that is hindsight but maybe it just taught me a very valuable lesson. I didn´t answer because it is completely irrelevant. (the you don´t have kids so you don´t know shit argument)
Imagine an alcoholic father violently attacking his kid and myself stepping in and he uses your logic, "You can´t say anything because you don´t have kids!" This is the same logic that some black special interest groups in the US use to justify gerrymandering political districts. "You can´t represent blacks if you´re not black because only blacks KNOW what it´s like to be black." It´s a bullshit argument.

That was the first thing that we did. In fact several search engines were used and because the teacher had misspelled the name of the battle, the search engines provided no hits. Like I said in my initial post, the teacher is an idiot but not because of just that because of several(many) other things that have happened this year.

That is why I do not let my children access to the net unless I am with them - PERIOD. But I am not delusional... eventually they will see these things too. Especially as my oldest gets older, so too will the youngest (get what I am saying?).
She'll be ok. Trust me, there are worse things....
ie - A child being shown an artistic nude of her mother by her father while he is pointing to the pic and saying, "See sweetheart - THAT IS WHAT A WHORE YOUR MOTHER IS." (The child was NINE.)
This too shall pass. Just take the opportunity to try and turn a negative situation into something positive. Discuss human sexuality, the difference between love and a mere sex act, birth control, premarital sex - whatever. Don't just put your head in the sand and pretend it didn't happen. Your child is looking TO YOU for guidance - now, as in the past, and certainly forever into the future!
