Suit straps too long!

I just got my squat suit in from Titan and the straps are too long. Other than sending it back, is there anything I could do? Would it work to fold part of the strap back on itself and sew it? Obviously I would get someone who could sew to do this. Do you think that would work, or would it not be strong enough?

I really dont want to send it back, because Ive got a meet May 10th, and Id like to be able to wear the suit for the meet.

Any ideas, let me know..

what fed do you lift in?

if its the ipa or apf, you can cut the straps sew on some velcro.
or if not you can fold it over and sew it but make sure its very strong or else.

Thanks for the info. The meet on May 10th is APA, so I dont know if they allow the velcro. Its not mentioned in their rule book. I also lift in other feds, though, and will probably lift in the APF sometime, so I think Ill fold the straps over and sew them.

well i can take my straps off by myself. they should be tight but not so tight that they throw off your form

I'm late responding to the post, but if anyone else is concerned about straps being too long...I've taken suits to a seamstress to be stitched tighter SEVERAL times. I've also sewn some myself with a few passes of dental floss. And honestly, if you want a polyester suit to give you some spring out of the bottom, it needs to be TIGHT! So tight it takes a huge effort for someone to get the straps over your shoulders. Now, if it's canvas or a crazy number ply, it's a different story and I've never worn such.

You can also take it to a shoe repair store and they can sew any material, just make sure they sew the crap out of it.
