But I need to start doing it. Im just wondering if I am doing it right, seems like such a simple thing to do, but why does it hurt so fucking bad? This is probably the reason why I dont stretch, since it makes me sweat and hurt more than a 25 rep squat.

Is it supposed to hurt? I feel like I can stretch 2 different ways. If I stretch with my leg completely straight, it hurts and doesnt feel right. If I relax it JUST A LITTLE, i feel like i still get a stretch and it doesnt feel weird, fuck. Im 22 and Im pretty strong for my age and dont wanna not stretch for the rest of my life

Story of my life. Trying to stretch makes me sweat just has much as lifting does!

Yoga sucks, but its great for your body bro... Stretching will make you more limber, agile and will help your muscles be warmed up.... Should help keep you injury free too.... But thats not a given with bad form....

while this is all true I recommend yoga After a workout and not before, unless you warm up your body with some cardio. Stretching a cold muscle is like stretching a cold anything..Snap!

You're feeling pain/discomfort because you're inflexible and you lift heavy ass weights which will set the stretch receptors at a certain length. If you get tingles when you stretch that's nerves, don't worry too much about it just ease off on the stretch.

Yes stretching will hurt done afterwards, it's essentially DOMS you'll get over it and the more flexible you become the less it'll happen same as with strength training.

You're obviously not training for martial arts or gymnastics so you don't need a a shit ton of developmental stretching.
Dynamic stretching first thing in the am will help reset the stretch receptors, static active stretching after a workout and some static passive stretching in the evening will help develop your flexibility.

PM me if you want a more detailed explanation of the types of stretching I've mentioned if you're unfamiliar that is... :)

Defeat is the stepping stone to victory.

breathe when you stretch first off.

secondly try HOT YOGA aka bikram yoga. not only will you over stretch in the heat but you also get to be in a room full of sweaty sexy chicks in their underwear. your flexibility will improve 10 fold. Respect to any guy who could be in that place with ladies dressing like that and still can focus on Yoga.

also your gym has regular yoga i'm sure.

use those yoga poses to stretch before bed.
