stretching is so gay

^^^ after your workout stretch and before bed.. do some yoga poses like cat and dog poses. those really stretch out your back and upper body. and then do some runners stretches which take care of the legs. don't forget your calves either.

at your age you can get away with a lot of things but once you get older you will need to stretch if you are gonna be comfortable with a lot of muscle mass.. i will lock up if i don't stretch..

Thats the thing, is it better to start now or does it really matter? Same thing as diet, is it that important to start now if I am already lean? I know one benefit is that it sets up my future habits...what else though?

Either way I am going to start dynamic stretching and a warm up on the bike before workouts, and static stretching after workouts and before bed. How long should you hold each stretch, 30 seconds? Also, when stretching my legs, should they be completely straight, almost like hyperextending them, or just almost straight?

Start stretching now, it's a good habit to get into.

Keep your knees soft, ever so slightly bent, hold the stretch for at least 8 seconds and repeat each stretch a couple of times. You can hold stretches longer if you want, that's kinda a personal thing, I'll hold some for several minutes.

if you are digging ditches all day at your job then yeah you will stay lean on a shitty diet, but wait till you become an accountant sitting on your ass all day. know any skinny accountants? so yes start now, don't get fat then decide to change.

and during tax season you will be on your ass 16 hours a day some days, and its gonna wreck your neck, back, shoulders etc. so it will be a big help to find a couple minutes here and there to stretch yourself out. also frequent visits to the acupuncturist and occasional visits to the chiro will help.

i didnt read all these posts but one thing i find stretching to help is bad posture, i see alot of ppl in the gym walking around shoulders completely hunched forward looking like a bunch of retards. yoga is hella-hard but its full of hot chicks and really good for you. when i first started off i downloaded the p90x yoga and did that 2-3 times a week. your form may not be perfect cuz you dont have someone critiquing you, but you will figure it out. i also like to stretch in the shower right after my workout
