Static weight training?

I havnt posted in a while, but has anyone had exprience in Static Weight Training and can provide personal feedback and information on it?

Static Weight Training is where you hold a weight staticly in your hand, instead of lifting it.
 
I don't like it at all. Its basically doing every rep as a negative. It is really hard on your joints becasue the effective weight you use is about 20-30% more than you would use normally. Plus it is hard to find people to help you, since they need to lift on every positive phase. Basically this is only good if you have people who can help you but I would be tired of helping somebody lift the weights just so they could lower it slowly.
 
I thought static training was when you just held the weight up?

IE lockout on the benchpress, walk-outs on the squat rack, etc... no actual ROM, just holding the weight...

I've been doing static bench holds, walk outs and also doing static deadlift holds recently, and I like it... it does make the working weight seem lighter, and my back feels "tighter" after the static dead holds...

Remember that doing static hold training and including it occasionally into your workouts...are two different things.

There will come a time when you do have to actually have to lift the weight in a full ROM.

statics are just an "end of workout" technique that I use while training for powerlifting meets. No negatives involved. Check this thread:
