Squats and SL Deads

Think it's okay to do both of these on leg day? I've done them together twice now, and have felt nothing but amazement. Haha. I have yet to go heavy on the SL deads though. Think I should do heavy squats with light deads, and vice versa, or both light? I fear that if I go heavy on both, my lower back will be prone to injury. And I'm just coming off one of those. Kept me from doing heavy squats for 2 months. All input welcome.
 
Absolutely!!! I perform this type of routine almost every leg workout! I typically perform:

1. Squats - 15,12,10,8,6

2. Stiff leg Deads - 3 x 6-8 @315lbs

3. Wide Stance Leg Presses - 4 x 12

4. Leg Extensions or Lunges - 2 x 10-12

5. Lying Leg Curls - 1 x 12 to Failure

My legs are blitzed after a routine like this.
