Ok...biceps are hurting BAD. Tried to do speed bench last night and picking up the bar hurt (even with the capiscan).

Squatting and doing GM's are killing me...working on a cambered bar soon.

I am thinking about taking a thumbless grip on my box squats and GM's to maybe relieve a lot of the stress that runs down my wrists to my elbows and biceps...

Thoughts???

One of the few exersices that I do thumbless ( the other being pulldowns/pullups) is the squat ...I have always felt it to be safer if I had to dump the bar...or in one case ...had it slide right down my back...and bounce off the saftey supports ...God what a noise!
 
I've never really felt the type of stress you're talking about. Maybe it has something to do with the difference in poundages being used in each of our cases :D
 
you can do that, make sure your hands are out as wide as possible. but hold on to the bar tight as hell. thats what i used to do when i had to squat on a standard bar. now i can use the extra long bar to squat with:p
 
Get that cambered bar asap, I have been through the same thing and I cured it by using the cambered bar for squats/gm and cutting out all pushdowns and tricep extensions.
 
Like Liftbig said the longer 'squat' bar helps, but it comes from being a big man with big weights that bother your biceps, I have a shoulder problem that developed from squatting and not benching believe it or not. Just try to work around it and plenty of warmups help also.
 
I use neoprene elbow sleeves when squatting. These have made a huge difference in the level of bicep pain I experience now.
 
This is a lot of what I was hoping to hear. I have been using tons of icy hot, capiscain, neoprene sleves, curls with the mini bands for warm ups, etc... So many of my training exercises and events hit the biceps and their tendons as well as the forearm tendons...

I just need a rest from a lot of that...my wrists and forearm tendons will just not take it. The cambered bar is in the making and I am not scheduled to goodmorning for a few weeks (deadlift and squat ME days on on the schedule) so hopefully that will make a huge difference. I'm not supposed to use the log this week either.

I am going to cut my volume back and be bicep friendly for a week or two...and see what happens...

It got to the point where I stopped traing biceps altogether. My biceps have actually gained 1/4" from not training.
