I told a friend that story and she flatly REFUSED to believe that they could not microwave a spud for you......

I gave up after about 10 minutes of trying to convince her otherwise

Hamstrings are looking good. :) I can certainly tell you are leaning out - you are looking more "compact" than before. If that makes sense. lol

...whenever I make a recommendation or request that something is done in a particular way - I always have a specific reason for it. Sometimes it's obvious(like not fats for breakfast) - sometimes its not so obvious(clen/fat burners) - but there is always a reason behind it.

Sassy was trying to be helpful in her comments regarding her experiences with CD ONLY rules.

I had already read over the rules and had made the decision to have both medias due to the situation that occured to me friend at his show. I did NOT want, even the remote possibility of that happening to you as he was literally sick over it. You can crack all the jokes about IPODS, tape decks and whatever else you want - but the fact is, had he had both media, he would have posing music.

Honestly, I didn't feel the need to explain my decisions over something like this, which is why I edited my previous post, as I was willing to let it go.

I REALLY liked this arm workout. I had to really push myself (and concentrate on not cheating on the tut) the entire workout. it felt good.

cardio this morning was good, too. i sweated all over my machine and had to do a full cleaning before the next person could get on it. Friday is a good day to workout - there was no one waiting for cardio equipment today and the gym was almost completely empty tonight.

I got my stuff from AG guys today, so switched over to their clen. holy :cow: ! BIG difference in potency from the crap I have. I had the shakes all day today. lolol still have them, but it's died down.

Shorty...make sure that your dilution factor is correct.

Their product is 200 mcg/ml.

Put one ml of their clen in 9 mls water.

BAck down 20mcg on the clen today

How's the lat spread coming? Finally found the pic I use to mentally pull out the biggest lat spread I can ... I LOVE Elena's back.

holy trou drop! :D lolol

YES. She has an awesome back - her whole physique is awesome, actually. I was just watching her today on my 2005 Nationals dvd.

My lat spread is better. all my posing is getting better. thank god. I got my suits in yesterday, so wore one of them for practice posing today.

My back went out this morning - not my lower - up under my left shoulder blade. oi. Jeff put me back in, but damn. I must have pulled a muscle as well. It hurt so bad, I couldn't do a lat spread. It's calmed down now - so should be better tomorrow.

Did I mention Jeff is also a Chiropractor? Very convenient guy to have around.

That's DAMN convenient! I should marry my chiro. That might make me lez tho. Her husband might have issues w/ that too.

Elena is fantastic but her back blows me out of the water ALL the time. She presents soooo well.

I've actually fantasized about being married to a chiropractor in my time *sigh* Lucky, lucky girl. I've had to settle for a geographically convenient chiropractor and a Tempurpedic mattress (best money I ever spent!)

I've had that upper back area go haywire on me, sometimes my chiro ends up having to do a front rib adjustment on me.

Feel better, shortie

I used to have lower back problems until I met jeff and bought a tempurpedic. both have been excellent investments. lolol

He's an interesting person. He and his brothers were professional rodeo cowboys for 20 years (All of them made the hall of fame this past year). You can imagine the back problems of rodeo cowboys. oi. Probably the least of their injuries. He got all his training from another rodeo guy who was a Chiropractor - both of them are so big that it takes another big guy to put them in. So, he spent time with this guy and got his treatments in exchange for work in the Chiro office. then he hit the road rodeoing and became "the guy" you went to see to get your back worked on.

He never went to school, so doesn't have a license. this means he works for free. :D I still call him a Chiropractor - I've been to licensed Chiros and have never had a better treatment then the one I get from Jeff. When we go to California to visit his family, there's a line of people waiting for him so they can get adjusted. Seriously. lolol

Oh I believe you! Some people have the hands for it (that's what I call it at least, a feel for what is right and necessary). I've been to licensed chiros and had them hurt me. The guy I go to now has good hands, natural healer, but there are some licensed turkeys that I wouldn't let pet my cat much less crack my back or neck

exactly. I also feel like most of them string you along to get more money out of you. "You need to come in 2 x a week for 8 weeks" or something similar. they don't really DO anything when you go in there for the first couple of visits. just poke around and tell you how bad it is. lol

I know exactly what you are saying. I went to a chiro once who was hihgly recommended and found he put my back further out, than I stated with was in pain for a couple of months before I plucked up the courage to go see a sports specialist. Who fix it in 3 visits.

It's when they TELL you you need to keep going. I won't shit you, I expect a doc to say the following (but I've been to more than a few chiros since I was 16):

You come in 3x a week for either XYZ amount of time, then
You come in 2x a week for XYZ amount of time, then
you come in 1x a week for another month or so.

It's usually two to three months of acute care, that's actually sort of standard (I'm talking broad generalities). Then what you do after that is up to you/your body/your condition in terms of maintenance.

When I saw the chiro that put my back out he told me I would need to visit him 3x p/w
for about 2 mths. I only made the one visit cause I felt he had done more damage.
When I finally saw the sports specialist I saw him 1x p/w for 3 weeks and he told me that the original chiro should not be praciticing as he could have done permanent damage to my back and neck. ( I originally had a car accident that wrecked my back).
Since seeing this specialist and strengthening my back with training I feel almost 100%.

I even had one chiro tell me that he rarely listens to what the patient tells him since he's in a better position to determine the condition of the back. He ran a strict ten-minute turnaround time and I didn't stay there long.

I believe it is an industry with a high percentage of quacks but there are some good practitioners. There are also people with a knack for healing. Good catch Short-One.

musclemom and shorty:

whats the cliff notes on a Tempurpedic mattress? my back is starting to act up from sitting and staring at a computer screen 14 hours a day (work, not ef lol)

I've found plenty of chiros who will manipulate your insurance more than your back... The place I go to now has 2 fantastic lady chiros and of probably at least 25 visits to the massage therapists - they have a selection of them and I usually do a last minute schedule - only 2 have really sucked. The rest are fantastic and I'm gauging that based on my request for specific muscle work and overall sports-quality deep tissue.

But those that somehow manage to prescribe a visit schedule the directly matches the upper limits of your insurance allowance... eek. I only go if I have a very specific problem. But also, outside of my ob/gyn, the chiro & more importantly , the massage therapist are part of my preventative maintenance program.

They are made with memory foam that forms to the contours of your body pricey little invesment but everyone I know that has made it says it is well worth the $$$.

P.S. You also need something like this since you are on the puter all day.

My hubby and I are in need of a new bed. Ya'll have sold me. :)

Just checkin in and living vicariously through you ladies.... Carry on! ;)

This is one of those things that you either LOVE or HATE. There is very little neutrality about these beds. They DON'T feel like a regular one, that's for damn sure. I find it very relaxing and I've had the first decent sleep in years since getting it. My husband is a very restless sleeper, he would wake me up sometimes 6 or more times a night, this almost TOTALLY dampens motion transfer. I'm sleeping much better and my back feels better, and I have a royally fouled up back.

IMO, go here, find a hotel that has it, book a room (THAT HAS THE TEMPURPEDIC MATTRESS, make SURE you're actually getting the bed!) for NO LESS than three nights:

http://www.tempurpedic.com/TempurCMSVB/company/hotels/

You can't make a decision about this thing just by laying on it for a little while. You actually have to sleep on it to feel if it's going to be right for you, I think.

If you order it from the website you get 120 day free trial, but you still have to pay restocking of like $200 something plus shipping of $175 so ...

Then, when you DO decide to get it, get it from a mattress company that has a liberal return policy. You'll still have to pay restocking fees, but this is one of those things that if it doesn't work out you will be MISERABLE and it's too expensive to be stuck with.

All I wanna know shortie is how the hell are you gonna shoehorn Mava between you and Jeff? Even if you guys have a California King it's gonna be one hell of a tight fit :lmao: Someone's gonna roll over and one's gonna fall out (there were three in the bed and the little one said, "roll over, roll over ...")

the king bed is in storage while we get the house built. we bought another tempurpedic queen for the 5th wheel. :D he'd have to snuggle up with us on a queen. lolol we're having a hard time fitting on it as it is...but hey. the more, the merrier.

a little off subject, but still related: we may buy the house next door to our property. I walked through it yesterday. It needs new paint on the inside and new carpet in the master, but otherwise it's a really nice house. that would give us a total of 12 acres. think of all that space for me to run around nekkid!

Cardio on the other hand felt AWESOME. I could have kept on going. Damn, I felt good this morning. Lots of energy.

Something new today. I noticed a vein running across my chest today. This means I'm leanin' . :) I don't know how great it is for a woman to be all veiny, but I am. My forearms/biceps especially. Back of my hands...now I have one coming out on my chest.

Diet - I was hungry today, and glad for the little bit extra in my shakes.

Dam wish I could cut on that kinda calorie intake. I guess your job being so physical allows you to burn up more then the average office worker.

since I started all this damn cardio and training, I haven't worked much. I have been running heavy equipment, but have done very little shovel work. I hired other people to do that for me. :D

You'll have to ask Shadow about this eating plan. I have not questioned him on it. I just do as I'm told. lolol To be honest, I just now put it in Fitday because Florencia asked. I had some idea, but didn't know the exact numbers.

the guy at the gym who's helping me with my posing cuts on 5000 cals a day. holy :cow: ! He has a mega fast metabolism and doesn't have to do much cardio to drop fat. He told me today he's afraid of doing too much, because he doesn't want to lose muscle mass, and always goes overboard each year he does this comp. (by overboard, I mean losing too much muscle mass) doing a natural show is hard. you can't take anything to preserve your mass...

Don't you just want to kick whiny bastards like that in the nads. Oh waaah I have to eat lots or I might lose mass..... F U buddy. How about a little estrogen & some genetically good German breeding hips to help ya with that?

:qt:

But I suppose it could be frustrating in its own way....

lol - I already told him he was teh suck. :D He may have a fast metabolism, but he can't add muscle to save his life. He's the same size he was 3 years ago.

a little off subject, but still related: we may buy the house next door to our property. I walked through it yesterday. It needs new paint on the inside and new carpet in the master, but otherwise it's a really nice house. that would give us a total of 12 acres. think of all that space for me to run around nekkid!
The mind boggles, my dear. Not only will the Jehovah's Witnesses avoid you, you will also no longer have mail delivery or UPS :lmao:

Actually funny you should mention you running around nekked on your property, I was telling my hubby about you getting ready for comp and pulled up the pic of nature girl in her late, great uggs and showed him that then the most recent ones you're posting on this log ... DAMN girl :google: don't even look like the same person!

I knew a guy with a high metabolism years back. I once commented that it must be nice to be able to cut at the drop of a hat. He pulled a really sour face and said he'd swap me for the mass any day.

Yep.....

It's a lot of cals compared to a standard cutting plan for:

A - a woman
b - a woman who weighs 150

I'm glad that you plugged them in at this point. I didn't mention the mumber of cals before as there would have been a lot of debate on that idea of cutting for a show on X numbers of cals, and especially on the macro split.

We are bumping the cals UP this week as we allow glycogen recovery/replenishment to occur....the total cardio will be a little higher as well to offset the cal increase.

Yes...that is in direct opposition to what I normally recommend......which is low cals/no cardio.

This is a temporary thing for this week only.

Next week....its back to dropping the cals each week tillt he show

Some people's metabolism seem to shoot up precontest. Hoteacher would waste away until we got her into the mid 2k cal range. We knew heavies eating less than her precontest. I actually felt bad for her having to eat so much. Sounds like shortone has a busy life so it's got to be a pain in the ass?

actually, no. lol I'm enjoying this. Do I get tired of eating the same thing al the time? sometimes. but it also makes life a lot simpler - preparing meals is easy, and now that I've been doing this for a while - have fallen into a routine. I've always been a good eater - the only meal I've had problems finishing so far are all the eggs. since all the cardio started, tho - it hasn't been a problem.

Shadow -

could you talk to me a little bit about the differences in nolva and a-dex - in regards to contest prep usage for wimmins?

I understand that nolva shuts down estrogen receptors and a-dex keeps estrogen from forming, correct? Could you explain a little more about that, and also why you prefer one over the other?

I have only a basic understanding of both, so am trying to educate myself a little more.

thanks.

OK. some weird bodily functions I just can't wait to share with you.

My urine is slightly green and I smell. :D lolol
I don't know if it's related or not, but since I started taking the a-dex, my sweat is stinky. I do not go to the gym without deoderant on because I could probably clear the room. Not sure about the green pee. Very pale, but still slightly green...

thought you'd all like to know.

Like ammonia? And yes only when you sweat. Try chlorphyll caps. Or any of those greens powders w/ chlorophyll in them.

Sure....

Nolvadex - soaks up existing estrogen - like you stated.

Arimidex - reduces formation of new estrogen - like you stated.

It's simply a matter of preference......I like the A-dex as it stops new Estero.....this gives overall levels a chance to fall.

Nolva "could" be added in later if the Adex doesnt do the trick - but Im sure that it will do what we need....in fact we might reduce the Ldex to 1/4 dropper or 1/2 dropper but EOD.

Smelly huh??

Most likely protein turnover as your metabolism is really cranked.

Green urine??

Could be from high levels of B vitamins asparagus, broc.

I've always associated that smelly sweat with not drinking enough water. Eating a high protein diet will cause a lot of urea and, without lots of water to flush it away, it comes out in the sweat.

If your urine is coming out strongly coloured, this would also point to inadequate water consumption. As Shadow says, B Vits will give a yellow/green colour to your urine. Drinking a lot helps to dilute it.

Great job on that back workout - funny how just using a different grip/attachment can make all the difference in the world where the foucs falls.

Great job on chest as well.......TUT is approx the same as it has been (60ish seconds) per set....but you were more sore from this workout than the Giant Sets which also had roughly the same TUT(with really no rest between sets).

So.....I guess we see that the number of reps done with little/no rest has little effect upon being sore....it may contribute.....but I think the "high reps = latic acid = soreness" myth is finally going away

I've been getting my gallon a day in - all I do is pee (it seems, anyway). The green urine is probably from the spinach & brocolli I"ve been eating.

Jeff says that I've probably smelled bad all along and just now noticed. lolol How sweet.

so now your senses are magnified! ;)

You are looking fantastic girl! Keep up the good work. Whens the next set of pictures????

Maybe you need more. Some people seem not to settle until around the 2 gallon mark.

Your gallon is probably a puny American gallon, anyway, rather than the mighty Imperial gallon. Our gallons are 25% larger than yours. :p

I'm trying to take them every week - so probably this weekend. I'm going up to Prescott tomorrow. My son is in a spelling bee. :) He likes to take pictures, so I'll let him do it.

I miss him. :( . I'll be so happy when we either (1) get this new house built so I can get everyone in the same place or (b) buy the house next door for the same reason. He's staying with grandma until the school year is out. In the meantime, I'm trying to get organized down here so that there's enough living space for all of us (grandma, too.)

is it a bright green or a dark shade of yellow that starts to look green?

the bright yellow/greeen is just b-vitamns going to waste or your veggis, but if its darkish yellow/green might signal possible liver issues (17aa's?) or dehydration

very light = pale green.

the light color is no biggie.......

Like Mava said - if it's dark AFTER drinking all the water - then it might be an issue

wasn't very hungry today. ??? drank alot of water and tea to see if it made a difference in how I smelled at he gym today. :D I didn't stink - you'll be happy to know. I proly raised my intake by 1/2 a gallon, so I'll be up all night peeing. wait - I do that anyway.

not sore today. my chest recovered pretty fast. Leg day felt good.

Good good good...feel free to add some Melatonin or similar at night if you think that will help the sleep issue.

Is it possible to have Jeff take a picture of each mandatory pose??

I want to see a couple of things in terms of where you are leaning out AND it gives you an opportunity to hit the shots

ok. My butt is sore. lolol My hammys and glutes hurt. It's a good feeling. I'm going to torture them some more tomorrow morning - cardio on the eliptical. I love the eliptical - I sweat all over the damn thing and it doesn't hurt my shins.

I'm getting up at 4 am tomorrow so I can have coffee and get to the gym by 5. Mitch has a speling bee tomorrow, so I have to be back here to get him dressed and on the bus by 7. That gives me an hour to clean up and get to his classroom and look like a respectable mother. (*note to self: leave stilleto heels and leather mini skirt at home*) I'm very proud of him - he won an award at his school for being the most respectful student. He was in the newspaper. :)

I don't look very graceful with the abs pose - and tricep. We took several and I varied the pose a bit (or tried to poof my lats out more...). I don't look very impressive in the 'relaxed' pose. either. grrrr.

I sent the photographer to bed, so no more retakes tonight. :D Also - I haven't cut the strings on my suit yet, so ignore the danglies on the bottoms...
