That's too high for age 38, without suspecting something needs attention. Not safe. You can do some things to try yourself to identify the cause, such as if you use any type of stimulants like Adderall for ADD or appetite control, or if you are a bigtime coffee drinker. Those can rocket your BP pretty high. And if you're not battling a weight (body fat) problem, you might have a hormone problem like mine (aldosteronism), which can cause BP problems.
Speaking from personal experience, it's easy to have high BP in our late 30s from our lifestyles, even if there's nothing wrong. If this were any other than the EF forum, I'd first ask you your eating & workout habits. But I trust that any of us here, already have that department under control.
See a doctor, and don't let them just stick you with blood pressure pills that will make you impotent, unable to sleep at night or be awake at work.... INSIST on finding the root cause! Doctors are passing lies on to you from insurance and drug companies when they tell you "People in the 30s and older just get high BP for no reason, and need pills for it." BULLSHIT! There is always a cause, and it's most often curable so you don't need debilitating, expensive pills for the rest of your life. They just don't want to cough up the $$$ for a hormone workup, a peripheral artery scan, or even an MRI of the legs. Those can identify whether you have the beginnings of artery disease causing your high BP, or whether you just have a gland someplace lying to other glands, making wrong hormone levels and high BP.
