well, i got two prescript anti-inflamatories and a muscle relaxer.
I gotta ask b-fold, are those meds for the sciatica or just to stay loose and keep up with the stress from strongman? do you take em year round?
you think it could be limiting progress or does it come with the territory in that sport?
I have a fairly serious stomach disease where most foods go straight through me and come out bloody. So I've been on a lot of different meds for a few years. The high doses of cortisone that I've taken really effect me mentally so I've taken valium and roofies (both very legal here) to help with anxiety and sleep related problems from that.
I've taken xanax to help deal with extreme cases of painful diarrhea.
Now, the muscle relaxer (which has no sedation effect) and the valium (very very very low dose, especially for my body weight) are being used to try and get all of the muscles to relax. And I have to be careful with any kind of anti-inflammatories because they tend to cause the possibility of internal bleeding.
I do NOT take anything before training except for icy-hot, ben gay type of creams and I'll use my e-stim machine. If I can't get loose through walking, reverse hypers, pull throughs, stretching...then I don't need to be training. I've taken so many meds over the last few years (couple years ago I was on 16 diff meds a day) that I just hate taking anything anymore.
Strongman, like any sport that involved athletic performance or gym work, is really based on pre-hab more than anything. Protect yourself so that you don't have to go to re-hab. Train your abs, rear delts, low back, stretch, hips, etc...as the list goes on.
But I know A LOT of athletes that use meth, other amphetamines, cocaine, codeine, morphine, and a lot of stuff that I have no idea what it is on a very regular basis. Some of them are good athletes...some are just slightly average maybe.
If anyone has ANY questions about ANYTHING...I will be happy to answer honestly and openly about everything. Over the last few years I think that I've used everything that you can imagine, and with my doctors watching and making suggestions.
