Went to my chiro. a bit ago. Got the full tune up ...neck down to lumbar.

Neck cracked next a few times... niiiiiiiice.
Upper back/Middle back range ... 3 cracks.... omg, feels so good.
Lower back (needs the most) ... OWWWIE :worried: ... fucker is too tight to crack, i gotta go back (i've waited way to long to go in to see him).

I was looking at my back in the mirror with a hand held mirror... WHOA... I have erectors that came outa No where!! It looks like a crator, deep divote with the muscle around my spine now... wow. 6 weeks of work, and it's built up like that?!?! Damn. I was shocked... and it makes since why the same old weight belt doesn't fit the same any more ;) prolly a good couple inches of new muscle back there. ya, ya.... I'll take pics when I get tanned up... cuz it's impossible to see contrast when someone's pale as an old irishman.

Took my old mattress and old box spring off the frame... vaccume the nasties living beneath... I'm ready for a new bed :sleep2: :D

And to my surprise received some B.E.A.Utiful flowers today for my birfday (tomorrow) :rose: :heart: ... I don't care what anyone says, that's awesome right there... even BiggT would blush and be giddy, lol.

155x8 ... didn't rest enough... this took a while, lol

This time around I know to do a few singles or doubles ramping up better so the 1st heavy set doesn't feel like it'll bury me.

lol...thank you!! Too bad i didn't even sleep in the new bed last night!! I have my own room at my buddies house the bed there is nice and firm and treats my back right though.

I could go and have a blueberry ale charged workout... I'm going to postpone it though... I woke up too late and have a dinner to attend shortly.

Thanks all for the birthday wishes!! I had a great bday on the 23rd...turning 23 :beer:

My new bed kicks ass it's not even funny... didn't want to get out of bed, I think sleeping is my new favorite hobby, lol. And my back feels 75% better... once I get my lower back popped back in line and a full tune up this week i should be waking up with zero back pain for the first time in a LONG time ... i'm looking forward to it!

Thanks MM... lol... that's good to know, makes me feel less wimpy about my benching. I close grip and rub my lats with my elbows... CGBPing has made noticeable aestetic improvement as well.

Pats lost last night... that was a shitty game... it's a sad day :rose:

I've been dumping water like it's my job... hit 219lbs again this weekend, lol... i'm probably back to ~ 210 today... i feel hella better and lighter.... clearing my system of all booze and shit food... I didn't eat much yesterday, stomach couldn't handle... but around 12am... i felt hungry finally and ate a huge plate of good food... before that it was milk and whey shakes all i could get down.

So tonight... I need to get to the gym, but I have a few other errands that are best done before lifting...

I'll be back on the MWF schedule if I can handle lifting tonight :coffee:

Nice, two PRs again! Good to see that the intermediate set on CG bench worked well and that your erectors are already thanking you for the new bed.

It sounds like a 5-pound jump on squats next Friday/Monday would be a good way to go, rather than another 10.

Thanks! Well it's not my erectors that are benefiting from the bed directly... it's more my spine... my backbones... that got very out of whack before.

My erectors are finally conditioned and don't get so pumped and sore lifting on the spot, it's a beautiful thing really :)

Yes indeedy... 5lb jump week :verygood: I've done that before when I found it a rather difficult monday... it's worked out so far.... hoping it was tougher than usual due to the 4 day layover.

I need a damn massage... i'm stiff and can feel knots.

My left knee that hasn't been a problem in 7 weeks is now hurting today... not good. Streching morning, noon, and night... may have to make the sessions a little longer and maybe ice tonight too.

And still need to go get L1-L5 lined up ... cervical verts feel outa whack again though too.

DAMNIT... stopped into my chiro real quick... the L's are still being held tightly out of place by my muscles :rolleyes:
Cracked the rest of my spine though... feels good, I love it.
And did a pelvis alignment "thingy" this time.... hadn't done it before on me... because my left leg was 1/4 inch longer than the other... now it's only a few milimeters off. And that's most likely the reason for my left knee being aggitated from squating with one leg noticably longer, lol.

he did yesterday... but my lower back is still locked up (L1-L5) and out of line... via my tight ass muscles being comfortable with the disalignment... and it's been out of whack for so long its' going to take a few tries for him to get it.. he got my neck and middle spine fine.

Doc just wants to give me pain meds and take x-rays (WAY more money than my chiro) ... high deductible insurance... so it's pretty much self pay. :coffee:

I forgot the states, I know it must be expensive but maybe you should get the xrays done just to know for sure. Done my lecture, I know I am not in your shoes. :heart:

xrays are good sarge to see your bones and discs...but you should get an mri as well...the tissue btwn your discs might be causing you some discomfort....mri's are expensive as hell though....make sure it doesn't get progressively worse bro. that's what happened to me...so i wnt to the chiropracter and got straightened out a few times....but then after liek 6 months that stopped helping...if you can afford the mri get it!

I appreciate the concern... it's a shitty situation. I'm thinking about making icing it 20 on 20 off (2 times) and then see him ASAP (maybe even ice it there) maybe that'll work... or maybe heat to loosen it up?

I'd have to be in agony and not able to walk to get all that done... medical expenses for the year are all ready through the roof :rolleyes:

I don't need pain meds... i'm not even taking Ibprophen/Advil..it's not THAT bad, just really..REALLY.. uncomfortable feeling at times.

Yah i hope so too... i'm streching those bastards in all directions multiple times a day to... i'm lengthing my streching sessions now. And if I'm feeling up to Deads (probably will, lol) I'll HAVE to ice down after and see how that does.

Pain of soreness after lifting... negative, unless i know i lifted with bad form. My erectors are conditioned now so they don't flare up at all... not even with strict GP rows after squats, AND hypers.

Pain or soreness is mostly in the morning upon waking... i think i'm going to have to try to sleep on my back still even with the new bed... Damnit.

An ultrasound would be much cheaper than an MRI (although still at least a couple hundred dollars) and still pretty effective as a way to view tissues. If I remember correctly, that's what AB had to analyze the source of his back problem.

somewhere around the 3rd and 4th set i think i hit my neck... and it was also unstable today... even lost my footing at one point on a rep... wtf... just a bad day ... all banged up... massaged between sets after I got messed up.

I think it's due to the fact that it's getting heavy for me and i had to dip upon receiving the bar on my traps now... didn't have to do it before... may have bent my head to far forward too...


Deadlift - contemplated leaving after I messed up my neck, but i couldn't bring myself to do it.. i pulled 135 a few more times than usual to test myself...

We pay a fee monthly that is like 80 bucks for my whole family it is 30 for a person, usually either your work will pay part of it or all of it. and everything is free, mri's, xrays, any test the doctor asks for.

Prescriptions are another thing but my company pays for it all. now granted for us it is a little expensive but we have 6 people in our family and that also covers dental and eyeglass and eye appoinments.

If you want your appointments sooner then you have to pay but if it is an emergency you get them right away and are billed anything, but you must be paying that fee to the government monthly otherwise then you have to pay for everything.

also, sarge look into cobra...it's def expensive but it may be worth it. it's prob like $400 a month or something

workout doesn't sound terrible...you stayed and did dl so that's much better then leaving...rest up for tomorrow!!!

If i'm not 100% tomorrow... i don't think i'm going to PR squat or even try to put weight on where my neck hurts... fuck that. I may have to resort to leg press for the first time in 7+ weeks.

Hope you feel 100%, even if you do i wouldnt risk re-injering it again. Do some Leg presses bro, no point on getting hurt. Come back with even more rest and blast some new PR's when ur feeling better

sarge, depending on how serious the neck issue is, you might consider dropping the Friday workout altogether and treating this as a mini-deload (with the reduced deadlift reps your volume is lower than usual anyway). Repeating a week is better than having a nagging injury that could develop into something serious. And even if you think you could go in and do some benching/rows without neck issues, I'm not sure what the point of leg pressing would be, other than feeling like you did some leg work.

Fuck the leg press - just take a break. It is well deserved. Like CS said - DELOAD!

Sarge, you want the bar to land on the meaty part of the traps....and ALWAYS bend at the knees to absorb the impact....at lockout, the bar should be behind your head....every so often the positioning gets a little fucked up, but 99 times out of 100, you should be okay if you keep those things in mind.

There is nothing wrong with skipping the 3rd workout....then seeing how you feel to restart things with workout 1 next week.

Also, if you want to stay away from the neck, you can do a cycle of front squats. But, don't let this discourage you from BTN push presses, they really are a safe lift....just remember to always bend at the knees to absorb the weight, and if you lock out behind your head (which the bar is already in position for anyway), you should be okay lowering it, just flex your traps and aim for the meaty part and steer clear of the cervical vertebrae......it takes a little practice, and probably by not bending to receive the weight before, you didn't get that practice, and then with the heavier weights, which come down faster, you just weren't expecting it.

I'm not sure what i'm going to do tonight yet...

BiggT That's IT!... i didn't get the practice that i needed for the heavier weight and receiving the weight :rolleyes: ... On top of that I think i leaned my head forward so i didn't knock myself out too in fear of it coming down too fast. On top-On Top (lol) of all that it was unstable at the top of the movement for one of the reps I can remember loosing my footing... blah, just a bad BTN day.

Front squats.. hmmm... i'd like to, but my back squats are still moving along. Let's see how my necks doin' tonight...

Horrible...shitty sleep. Neck is better... but not 100%... i'd say it's up to 75% ... when it was about a 5% when I hurt it.

why dont you do the push presses in the front? I had the same issues with the catching when I did them plus anything btn makes me uneasy.

Thanks...yes, better and better... I think it was just soft tissue strain... i massage the crap out of my neck all day and it's getting better, slowly.... I'm up to about 88% neck movement now :)

I've been doing PP's for 7 weeks from BTN... just wasn't used to having to dip to receive the heavier weights i'm using now and it fudged me big time... I'll get used to it :) :evil:

Way to ruin a kick-ass workout with all that crap after curls. ;)

Regarding GMs vs. hypers, I'd be absolutely astonished if anyone who's done both tells you hypers are better. I'm not one of those people; I've always done GMs as my supplemental posterior chain work out of necessity, since I didn't (and still don't) have a hyper bench (home gym) and figured they're a superior movement anyway. I've also found that they're great for hamstring flexibility.

Like I said, I've never done hypers, so I don't know how much they use the erectors relative to the glutes/hamstrings, but GMs definitely hit the hamstrings hard. That's just something to consider if you notice that you're not able to drive through your heels as much on squats/deads (due to hamstring fatigue), although it probably won't be a problem since you're not really pushing GMs.

there was a 5 hour block today where I only had a good size ice coffee... intake besides that has been lazidazical (sp?!..haphazard) today at best... has a DWOS (during workout shake... Mass Recovery...380 cals with protein and carbs...)... thought about getting the cheaper Carbo Force with 100grams carbs...but i need the protein today..

i haven't eating since the Mass Recovery either :rolleyes: ... i don't know how i got through the workout.... seriously... adrenaline probably... i gotta go pound some food down... right now :RADAR

Seriously though, nice PR on the squat and row.....how is the rep scheme on bench feeling? And how is the neck?

About the GMs VS Hypers.....IMO, GMs are the superior exercise.

Rep scheme... I like it... 5x8's on Day 3 ... and the Triples on Day 1 .. it's working out.... let's see if I can bust through my damn 200x4 in a few weeks...
Neck today... zero pain... movement not limited ... 100% now, getting DEISEL headaches since the BTN incident... that tells me my stuff is out of wack, big time... oui, those kind of headaches in the back suck.

Take some Advil and rub some dirt on it, lol

With the PP's, if you're going to be uncomfortable from BTN, I am not gonna put pressure on you to do them.....but they really are a safe lift, and I just don't want you to get discouraged with them.....the thing is, they are 25% strength/25%speed/and 50% timing......by not receiving the weight properly (because you weren't forced to with lighter weights) you just never developed your timing, which is about half the battle with them (as the weights get heavier and heavy, the bar comes down FAST)...from your description, it sounds like you lost confidence that the bar was behind your head at lockout, then looked down to receive, and exposed the base of your neck, when you should look straight, protect the neck, and flex the meaty part of the traps to receive........I know I said that before, but also I know you liked the lift and were doing well with them, and I'd hate to see a little mishap get you down on them and scrap them.

How are you with push presses to the front? They are much more comfortable and easier to control IMO (although that is not the general concensus).

Yeah, you're gonna warm-up with weights you could strict press.....but use just as much force as you would with something 100lbs heavier.....prime your body and get in a good groove......there should be no way in hell you could strict press your final 2 or 3 sets , if you can, you need to put more weight on the bar....a PP is an explosive lift, you want to be forced to squat the bar off your back....and from BTN, you shouldn't even be able to budge the weight off your shoulders in strict style on your 'work sets'.

Here's an example from a guy with no upper body strength (myself):

Strict Press: 60kg
Push Press: 90kg x 2
@ bwt 76kg

It's all leg drive baby yeah

I just found out i'm about 25 miles from a well known Strong man training facility... has been used for WSM Events, ect... with Impliments, OLY platforms, tons of weights...

Looking into it, that'd be cool to train there maybe go on a saturday or sunday.

sounds like your type of place...def worth checking out on the weekends! motivation is key and i don't see how one can't be motivated in a place like that

Nice, keep us updated on the strongman gym. If you really like it and their membership would allow it, you could even set up a routine that has an Oly/strongman day on the weekends when you could go there.

Same here, although I always have time to check this PR-fest. :D Nice benching - you should own 200+ for 5 when you switch back to regular grip. The squat and row PRs are good stuff too, of course, but it's always a good feeling to get a stalled lift moving again.

You'll be fine man...CGBP is the best way to learn how to bench....even if you like them and want to keep the grip close, thats even better, imo it is more functional and you get more bang for your buck in terms of what is 'worked'.....the ONLY advantage a flat bench has (the only advantage over any press it has for that matter) is the load you can use.

So yeah... my left leg... is 1/4 inch longer... and likes to stay that way, I get adjusted (chiropracter) and it's only off by a couple milimeters...but it goes back to odd ball a few days after.

1/4 inch shimmy in my right shoe for squats, i'm thinking, i'll probably permanantly (well in my other shoes too) install one to level me out, it is noticable... and that's why I tend to favor leaning on my right leg come to find out...

friggin' weird.

This is all on a "limited" intake as well... besides the pizza I had sunday night in preparation for tonight :chomp:

I've ditched the ridiculous shake in the am cuz i was getting sloppy...still soft, ect... but better IMO (whole eggs..chicken/cheese omelete that turns into a scrambled mess that i just inhale, lol and oats with berries instead)

Holdin strong at 210-212 lbs
