Routine and overtraining

Bulk

New member
Hello, can you tell me please if my routine is good ?
Monday: Chest
Tuesday: Biceps
Wednesday: Shoulders
Thursday: Legs
Friday: Triceps
Saturday: Back

I train 45 - 60 mins each workout.
I think I'm overtraining my triceps and biceps, I do like 15 or 20 sets, I think I would rather do 8.
How much time do you rest between sets ? I rest between 45 secs and 90 it depends of the muscle.
Thank you in advance.

you are overtraining, i dont care if you're on AS or not, i dont see many pros training 6 days a week, and you do not take anywhere as much drugs, protein or food in as they do. better still, you probably dont have the genetics to train 6 days a week and gain.......do any of us??(pros included)
i dont wanna come across harsh here buddy, just try and help you out a bit.
i think you should drop the weights to 4 times a week.
even if you are gaining off this routine at the moment, you will soon lead to a stare of overtraining, sooner if you are natural(r u a natural trainer??)

Thank you !

Monday: Chest / Biceps
Tuesday: Nothing
Wednesday: Legs
Thursday: Shoulders
Friday: Nothing
Saturday: Back / Triceps

Is it better ?
BTW i'm not on AS

Yeah, four days a week would be plenty. If you're a hardgainer, 3 days a week would be even better still. 8 sets is probably too much for you concerning bi's and tri's depending upon your training experience, bodytype, genetics, diet, etc.

Let's put it this way, I've been training for years, have slightly above average genes (despite my name, LOL!) and eat consistently good and I still would never exceed 6 sets apiece for bi's or tri's. They don't need massive stimulation in terms of volume.

Hit 'em hard and quick...then go home, eat, and rest. You will grow.

That split looks much better. The only thing that might be a problem is if your Tri's are still sore on Chest day. See how it goes, you might want to train Tri's and day earlier, or swap round your arm days.

Hmmmm, if your shoulders are shot, that might effect your Chest day as well................

How about:

Mon: Legs
Tues: Chest / Tri's
Wed: off
Thurs: Back
Fri: off
Sat: Shoulders / Bi's
Sun: off

At the end of the day it's up to you, loads of people do well off of all sorts of splits, so try and mix it up and see how it feels.

Separate Push/Pull days have long been a popular way of training. You will use less weight and should reduce the volume for Tris but you can still work them thoroughly. You will find it is a popular combination

If you don’t like it, swap Bis and Tris round, there are not definite rules :)
