I hate to say it but those grants and a lot of other spending is why we are going so far into debt with Obama. That money everyone is getting from grants, etc. is tax money and we're jus giving it away. My son's mom is on a grant too so don't think I'm attacking you. It's just that we've gotten ourselves in too deep and Obama is trying to even UP spending after all this. "I sometimes forget the magnitude of this recession" - pres. Barrack Obama.

I do see the debt rising and it is concerning. But there has to be ways to cut from some areas without cutting the legs off the people who hope to someday not be a drag on the government and the services it provides.

Yes. I agree. I'll admit I got on unemployment assistance with my ex wife after I discharged from the army and I didt have to do a damn thing. There was no accountability of job searching. I lied every week. But to my credit I was only on a few months. When welfare first started it was accountable, or in other words it was work. You had to be working on the next job to be getting your benefits. Obama has made it so you don't have to do anything at all. I'm not defending Romney per-say... As he may be just as bad after we get to know him better. I'm just saying even Obama said when he won the office that if he doesn't succeed in bringing the economy back in 4 years then he should be a one term president. :/ His own words.

the funny thing is? the 45% that i was referring too is just counting those that actually FILED a tax return...it doesn't count those that aren't required to file (like in the story referred to above ^^^^) because their income was too low.

I agree. But if Romney gets into office it will have a direct impact on my life because I depend on the education grants. Obama almost doubled them. Also, my oldest son works very hard in school. He wants to go to college and I won't be able to pay for at least the first two years. He will need the financial aid available.

Not to mention that Romney can suck my ass with those comments he made. Obama gets my vote.
