rest time between 5 * 5 sets

I know the 5 * 5 routine is a good oldskool method of building stregth and size. How much rest between these kind of taxing sets do you take?

Me:

flatbenchpress: 3 minutes

barbell curl 2: minutes

is this too long/short????

when i do sets of 8-12 reps I usually stick to 1:30 rest unless it's squating or something like that

I try and keep the rest periods consistent, that way I know that when I manage to add weight it's not cuz I rested longer. I do probably about the same as you, the bigger the muscle, the bigger the rest, 3 for bench, 3-4 for squats, etc

My rest periods usually are less than 2 Min except for squats/deads.
I start the next set when my breathing returns to normal or when a Hot chic walks by.. :D

after warm-ups.

3 minutes for chest and 5-7 for back and legs

5X5 specifically is designed for 5 minutes rest. But it depends how you train. The heavier the weight, the longer the rest has worked for me.

It's a strength program. I'd say 3-5 minutes is good. A little shorter, but not much if that's what you prefer. With other exercises in your workout, you will probably want to keep the rest time down a little (i.e. 1-3 minutes depending upon your preferences).
