r-ALA + no carbs + heavy workout = NOT GOOD!

biotin enhances the effect, it itself improves glucose clearance.

with respect to jg1 comments.. since no carbs to produce insulin spike.. the chances of hypo (while still possible) are much less with taking on empty stomach.. though other factors may alter this.

If you want to absolutely MAXIMIZE glucose disposal at the expense of money...you should use 800mg R-ALA per 100g carbs.

I use 3.2g R-ALA/day.

Wow. Fonz, do you take in carbs pre-workout w/o r-ala? Ever have any problems from not doing that? I guess I'm hoping someone else can concur what happened to me today.

G'day there 40. Long time. Sounds like you took a crash there bro. I know the feeling you are talking about at the gym, usually I get the shakes along with it too. Sometimes I had to cut my workouts short because of it. The powerade works so damn good because it is quick (high glycemic), and your body was craving them carbs.

252 eh? Up from what? I here you there, 270 is a big mofo! Id guess that you may be holding a bit of water. It can be kinda decieving, I am 217 right now, but my good buddy who is only 200 looks like he would wiegh more than me. I think that I am just a lot more dense (thicker) than him.

Good luck bro. Watch that crash before workouts. I always have a half toasted multigrain bagel, with half of a ripe avacado spread on it about 45 minutes before my workouts. Avacados are high in calories but are loaded with mono unsaturates too. Excellent power snack. Sometimes I will grab a gator aid to get me through the workout, depending on how grueling it is, and how my body feels.

Take Care,
Mavy

I use a 75g total carb drink diluted in 3.0L of Diet Peach Snapple.

I sip on that all through my workout.

I agree, that's an awful lot of r-ala to be taking at once.

Hulkster do you take in any carbs preworkout? Have you ever had any issues with hypoglycemic effects during a workout on those kind of doses?

I had juvenile diabetes, although it's not genetic because no one on both my father's or mother's side had it, or even Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes itself. And I have a large family, and am close with all of them, so finding out info on all of my family is easy. Hell, both sets of my grandparents are still alive, and my Great-Grandmother on my father's side is still alive. And you know what? NONE of them have any form of diabetes. However, my diabetic condition completely ceased about 4 years ago, and according to my doctor I am no where near being diabetic.

But, to get back to your questions:

I usually eat a small turkey sandwich and a whey protein shake about an hour before my workouts. I will usually NOT take any r-ALA with this because I don't want it to disrupt my workout.

Other than that, I have never had any hypoglycemic episodes while lifting----although at the r-ALA doses I take before meals, I should.

Hey, Mavy, good to hear from you. Hey thanks for the info.

Ya know bro, I'm not holding any water at all man. I am very sensitive to water retention in fact as I've had bp issues in the past and even take a bp pill everyday which includes a diuretic. I'm putting on some lean, solid mass. My workouts, however, consist entirely of multi-joint exercises: squats, deads, push-presses, step-ups (w/heavy db's), then flat bench, seated oh presses, dips, chins and rows, so I imagine it's adding onto large muscle groups and dispersed pretty well. But that's literally all of the exercises I do along with stair running once per week. Diet is squeaky clean with lots of protein, healthy fats and clean carbs (as opposed to candy/ice cream, etc.). In fact I haven't been this lean in quite some time. So I dunno. Damn I just looked, I was 238 about a month ago. Hmm.

Damn 40! Sounds like you got your shit together. If that is lean mass, you are doing great bro. You are doing really good if you can see them abs at that weight. Nice that you are doing the heavy compound movements, they will put you under the most stress, break your muscles down the most. Makes sense why you are growing so good. I am curious as to what your cycle is. Things sound very promising if you are just at the start of your cycle. Keep me updated on how things turn out near the end of your cycle.

Stay strong bro.

I started with the following about a month ago but made some changes soon after. But I was running test at 200mg for months earlier.

test enanthate 200mg wk now-forever lol
deca 200mg wk 1-10
dbol 20mg ed wk 1-10
tren 25mg ed wk 1-6
proviron 50mg ed wk 1-10

The changes I made was to drop the proviron (this sucks because I looked great on it but my bp went crazy on it after about a week), I also dropped the deca because I just got sick and tired of the nasty night sweats, I must be sensitive in that regard to deca. I also dropped my dbol to 10mg/day and only on workout days and bumped my enanthate a little. But I added prop and tren and here's what it looks like now:

enanthate 300mg/wk
dbol 10mg (only on w/o days)
tren 50mg eod (I might bump this to 50mg ed this week)
prop 100mg eod

This seems to work real well with me for whatever reasons. My appetite is just rediculous though. I mean I'm waking up in the middle of the night hungry, eating 6-8 times per day but real clean, healthy food. I'm not on any stims at all, not even caffiene. I agree though about the exercises I'm positive that this is putting some serous mass on me. That and the big clean calories. We'll see how it goes, I'll keep going until I run out of tren and prop which will be in about 8 weeks. I'll post up again if/when I hit 260, yikes!!! :)
