Questions about weight and reps

What should i do if with one weight, i can do 15 or more but with the next weight up, i cant really do 8 with good form. This mostly has to do with dumbbells. The other day i was doing bicep curls (concentration curls) and i could do more than 15 with 15lbs but when i went up to a 20 lb dumbbell, I could only do 8 and even then my form wasnt all that great for the last couple of reps
 
Slow down the reps on the 15 pounders(6 seconds each) and go till failure....if you get 6-10 reps keep the weight the same.
 
Thanks a lot. So if I can get 6 reps with 20 pounds should i do that or just go for the higher, slower reps of 15?

If you can get 6 with the 20's on a 6 second rep:

DO two sets with the 15s
one ste with the 20's
