Question about my BB set

Ok this may be the stupidest question to date from me, but I really have no clue of the answer. Well I finally bought a bb set a few weeks ago, and I've been using it for awhile now.

Question when I log the weight I use, do I put just the plates, plates x 2, or plates x 2 with the bar.

For example if I do any exercise with 10 lb plates, how should I log that:

10 lbs
20 lbs or
30 lbs (my bar weighs 10 lbs)

Necia

I always log the pounds in plates that I use, as I have no idea what the bar at my gym weighs. You could always log the total weight, since you know the bar weight, or the pounds based on the plates & log the bar weight separately....up to you...

I usually do "weight added on"; I assume everyone knows I'm referring to weight added on to a 45lb bar (the bars in the free weight section of the gym)

I guess I will change the way I log mine too; I didn't know bars come in different weights.

Let me go check if my bar weighs 10 lbs. I don't think it weighs 45 lbs, I can pick it up no problem. My hubby told me it was 10 lbs.

Do you add on the weight of the bar? Hell yes! If for example I am doing bench then the bar weight totals a third of my poundage... why would I not want to include this in my training log?

You're lifting the bar, so you count the bar. :)

So Necia, if you have one ten pound plate on each side of your 10 pound bar, you would log that as a 30 pound lift.

Thanks you Seashell,

Sometimes I let the total obvious fly right over my head.

I asked Spatts (former mod on this board) that exact question a couple years ago. I hadn't been counting the bar (who knew?), so I was quite excited to be able to add that weight in. :D
