question about fats with carbs...

I have upped my fat intake(flax seed oil, peanut butter, cashews etc) to try and lose some fat and I was wondering if it is a no no to take fast with carbs? I use flax seed oil in my MRP's and eat cashews for snacks...what is the best way to use the fats? I am keeping my protein high and carbs fairly low..

Don't go overboard with the fats bro. The flaxseed oil, peanut butter, and nuts are all good when eaten in moderation. Keep the carbs low and raise your level of cardio.

So how much fat should I intake a day? I am presently 180 pounds, 5'11" 10-11%bf, I am trying to get up to a lean 195 with 6-7%bf.....I am doing 3 days a week weights and 3-4 days a week cardio...

Ummmm do I understand your goals correctly......you're trying to gain 15lbs muscle while dropping 4% bodyfat????

Tell us what else you're taking/doing besides flaxseed oil and nuts. Is this a bulking diet or a cutting diet?

Anyway to answer your question you would ideally avoid mixing your carbs and fats to any great extent. This is true anytime IMHO. But too much fat is still too much fat. Just because it's considered 'good' fat doesn't mean you can eat 2 kilos of cashews per day and not expect to gain considerable fat. Excess calories are excess calories no matter how you count them.

Ahhh, i love cashews. BUt they are right. Munch too many of them, and you will put on the weight. Cardio is your friend in all of this. Eating carbs at the right time of day, and keeping an eye on carbs and fat are important considerations. Everything has to be balanced.

well carbs are always metabolized first, before protein and fat. so if you have carbs and fat together in the same meal, the liver will focus on the carbs...while the fats are stored away for the time being.
...and probably stored for a while too.
so...carbs+prot=good ; prot+fat=good ; carbs+fat=bad

first off you should spread your fat, carb, and protein intake evenly throughout the day. Secondly....for you weight I would suggest about 32-36g of fat per day, 200g of protein daily, and about 160-170g of carbs a day.

1800 calories a day? Damn, I would shrink away to nothing with that level of calories.....and be starving in the process. No, I think 10 calories per pound is way too low to successfully lose weight without losing tons of muscle.
