Problem with wrists

I have been lifting since march , and I have this pain in my wrists that have been there for a while. At first it was my forearm that would hurt. I figured it was some sort of forearm splint that I developed because I had just started. I felt it when I would do barbell curls. As I would lift I would feel fine once I flexed into it, but when i put the barbell down my forearms would hurt. If I pushed down one them as I was putting it down It would slightly relieve the pain

Now my lower wrists hurt and not so much my forearms. Mainly the top of then when I start to lift. Once a get into my sets I am ok because I am all flexed but when I put the barbell down it kills and I have to shake them out.

Right now sitting here my wrists feel fine. But if I grab my desk and push up as if I am going to lift it keeping my forearms horizontal, my wrists start to kill.

Do I have something serious here? I have been lifting since March for the first in my life so I figured this was part of the growing process. I am 19 years old if that means anything.

Anything I can do to help this? Special lifting gloves or something?

A few thoughts:
-Try wearing wrist wraps when you train. Make them nice and snug without cutting off the circulation.
- Do warm-up sets. This can't be stressed enough. Start with a really light weight - you're not only warming up your bicep but your forearm and your joints (elbows and wrists) as well.
- Train forearms! You can't make maximal gains on your biceps without having the supporting structure.
- Try a glucosamine supplement.

Sounds like you have an injury from what you've told me.

Take some time off training till it sorts itself out.

Don't wear wrist straps. don't train till it's better [i know you don't wanna hear that sorry].

Make sure when you do pressing movements, you do not bend your hand back like many people do. Keep your hands straight over your wrists. Do not let them roll back to a near perpendicular position to your wrists. This will cause excessive strain and most likely an injury to your wrists.

I used to have the same problem. I got wrist wraps (velcro connection) and it solved everything. Every once in a while I take them off and I can feel a distant sharp pain.

i have the same problem...4 months ago it started in my right wrist..after cutting out movments that made my wrist bend back, like Skull crushers, and changing from monkey grip to regular grip on the pressing movments, it disappeared..but now the same shit is startng on my LEFT wrist..sucks ass

I had exactly the same problem a few months back. I would even feel the pain deviating from the wrists during my warm up sets, so I knew something wasn't right. Take Robboe's advice and take some time off. Its the only way it will heal. I found after 1 month, I began using reverse curls and they didnt cause any pain.
