Problem with training and eating

Here is an example day for me:

Chest/Shoulders/Tris

Bench and then Flys

Shoulder presses then raises

Dips and then skullcrushers

The sets are ramping

My problem is, I am trying to eat enough to gain weight, but I seem to be gaining more fat than muscle. On this particular day I may have woken up and drank 2 glasses of milk, and ate some cereal with some complex carbs and an orange.

Then I work out, and have whole grain rice and chicken breast with a protein shake.

For dinner, maybe a salad and a steak, and another protein shake before bed.

I throw some lunchmeant turkey and a couple of other complex carb snacks in there during the day.

I am having muscle gains, and I take good care to not take in any trans fats, and keep fat intake to a minimux, and make sure the carbs I'm eating are good. I seem to still be gaining fat faster than muscle.

Can anyone point out a problem here?

the word flys is a problem in my book!

I donno, how many cals are you eating in a day. If you don't know, I'd suggest tracking it next time to get a general idea. If you are gaining weight you are obviously eating enough..and if your fat gain is higher then you'd like you could either:

lower the cals
incorporate maybe 20 mins of incline walking 2 or 3x per week to help combat the fat gains.

your problem is your diet...

Lets break it down for a minute..

Meal one you listed:
. On this particular day I may have woken up and drank 2 glasses of milk, and ate some cereal with some complex carbs and an orange.

you had essentially 3 servings of carbs... Cereal, Complex Carbs and a Orange with no protien... So essentially you had a incomplete meal of carbs.

Meal 2

whole grain rice and chicken breast with a protein shake.

Is not bad.. i would drop the protien shake.. your already getting protein from the chicken breast.. i think your eating two many big meals instead of spacing..

Meal 3
For dinner, maybe a salad and a steak (fine)

Meal 4
protein shake before bed. ( i would add a fat in this meal)

Snacks
I throw some lunchmeant turkey and a couple of other complex carb snacks in there during the day.

lunchmeant is garbage

complex carb snakcs are incomplete its like eating a slice of bread with out anything else itwill lead to fat stoarge..

i don't think lunch meat is garbage as long as it is cut fresh when you are there..it certainly is not the greatest but while bulking I can't honestly say it needs to be avoided.

Carbs without protein is a mistake - if your bulking you probably want that protein in every meal anyway.

Your diet is PROBABLY at fault, but if your gains on your lifts are not constantly going up (while gaining the fat) something is definitely wrong.

seems like my problem is not combining carbs with protein at meals. I wish I could eat 5 meals a day but with school and work that just isn't feaseable. I'll do the best I can. Thanks for the input, it's already working

you CAN eat 5 meals a day with work and school, you just have to be creative. I managed to do it when I was in high school, and the school had a strict policy against that sort of thing outside of lunch due to drugs/alcohol..
