Pre Workout/Post Workout meals?

I'm back to full training after 20 years off and many things have changed. What I would like to know is could someone recommend to me some basic pre and post workout meals/drinks/combinations. Sorry to annoy. Thanks
Ed

I eat Whey protein shake afterwards...
I eat something light for the meal before my workout, cwc73 suggested chicken/tuna with veggies...I would lean more towards tuna, but def. the veggies. I usually cut up some onions and bellpeppers in my tuna, and try to have steamed brocolli (.25 pounds) with alot of water (try to drink a liter before workout)--good luck.

i must disagree here, unless there was some new study saying itherwise that i have missed......but veggies pre and post workout is not what you want. any other meal is fine, but the veggies will serve little purpose and only slow you down. go with some med GI cho before workout (oats) and some higher gi post, almost any cho source except fructose. (maltodextrin, dextrose, oats...)

Ok. I didn't mean like directly before workout. I meant 1:30-2:00 hours difference. Also, my "meals" are better for Postworkout in my opinion. I know a bunch of people disagree on the veggies, but there are so many good things in them that you just don't wont to leave out.

Thanks guys. Musclelove posted this for me on another thread. It's a great read.
