And what I've noticed is that when one person isn't getting what they want, they often try to give more of that to the other person. In a lot (if not most) cases, the other person isn't even interested in that.

There's a book called 5 languages of love that sums up this whole concept, I thought it was lame but read through it and it's a pretty good guide for those with no common sense or observation skills towards their significant other.

I think all that stuff can be summarized by:

1) Different shit turns different people on.

2) Don't assume the shit that turns you on turns the other person on.

3) If you want the other person to give you the shit you want, try giving them more of the shit they want instead of more of the shit you want.
