PEANUT BUTTER while trying to LOSE FAT

I wanted everyone's opinon on peanut butter... from what I understand peanut butter is a good source of unsaturated fat. I usually take in about 2-4 tbsp. a day and I am trying to lose a little bit of fat. Is peanut butter a good source of fat and a little bit of protein or is it too many calories or what?"

Sure, ALL NATURAL PEANUT BUTTER is a great source of fat. When I cut, I still eat about 1/2 a jar of the ALL NATURAL PEANUT BUTTER a day. (about 10-12 tbsp.)...Seems like a lot, but it can do wonders for your diet.
Nutrition: (Typical ALL NATURAL PEANUT BUTTER)
2tbsp.
200cal
16g fat
2gsat fat
6g cabs
3g sugar
8g protein

So, by adding about 10 tbsp. a day, you get about 1000 cal, 80g fat, 40 g protein, 30 g carbs. Just remember: in order to lose fat, you need to eat fat, so your body knows it gets enough fat.

Thats crazy dude that you eat half a jar a day of peanut butter LOL I am glad now I thought that I was gonna be getting fat from peanut butter somehow. I guess all the calories for such a little bit of food who knows. Well thanks for the reply I am hoping to get some more opinions.

How low do you keep your carbs when your tryin to lose fat?

If I use a protein/carb/fat diet that is balanced (not keto)
,then I get 1000 cal (30carbs,80g fat,40g protein) from ALL NATURAL PEANUT BUTTER, and I get 50 carbs from oatmeal in the morning, then I have 20 carbs with my protein after my workout.

Total, I have 100 carbs a day, with about 100 g fat a day. With this combo, I usually combine about 400-600 g protein a day.
This combo amounts to about 2900-3300 cal per day, seems like a lot but look at it this way: 45min cardio in morning AM empty stomach, everyday workout and 30 min cardio post workout w/ a bunch of E/C and adipo. is the way to go for fat-loss. I used to do this pre-contest, but now that I'm older I just stay on CKD (although I try all the new fad diets). I usually like to stay on CKD.

Are your serious dude? Thats a CRAZY ass diet holy shit LOL 400-600g protein, 100g carbs, 100g fat? Goddamn dude you must be a monster to be eating like that... I have taken it 400g of protein before but never much more than that I dont think. I got strong as hell taking in that much protein. I am not taking in a lot of protein now AT ALL shit probably 1g per pound LBM. and maybe 100-150g of carbs at the most. Two postworkout carb shakes (around 35-50g each) and then maybe a little bit of carbs in between my workouts.

I got another question dude where do you get all of your protein from? I couldnt take in 400g if my life depended on it! Haha I am trying to keep my protein real high and I am thinking about starting to drink like a TON of skim milk which I heard is great for staying anabolic. Grilled chicken breasts are good too.

CKD huh? Thats crazy dude I have experimented with a CKD, TKD, and the Metabolift Diet, Body Opus, the Anabolic Diet, etc. I had a lot of trouble sticking to the no-carb diets. I am better off with a balanced diet like the one I am on now. I used to binge like for 4-5 days at a time on ketogenic diet. How have ketogenic diets been working for you? Do they help you out workout wise? Are your carb-ups like junkfood binge sessions or more controlled like a carb-load type.

Did you say you took ECA with Adipokinetix? Thats crazy too I take both on alternate days but I have never heard of stacking them together. I heard that Lipokinetix is real good? Have you heard anything about that at all or no? Or MD6? Or BetaLean? All newer type fat-burners with a lot of hype.

For a couple of weeks, my fat loss seemed to be stuck. Then I read more about "good fats" and started to eat 2 tbs of peanut butter a day, or olive oil. And I started to see my fat loss again! Plus, I love peanut butter, it tastes so good, almost feels like I'm cheating, but I know its good for me.

Before you go out a buy Jif by the gallon

This eating peanut butter thing is all well and good but from what I understand it is in REPLACEMENT of all other fat no??? If I am wrong please correct me, but from my understanding, sans peanut butter there is no other source of fat in your diet...

Thanks,
Snooker

OK, this may be a stupid question, but I love peanut butter too and I want to know how to measure it. Do you take a spoonful and level it off and thats 1 spoonful or what? How do you guys know how much you're eating?
Thanks

Yeah, the measurements are whack. For the label, a tablespoon is a LEVEL tablespoon. I don't know about you guys, but 4 of MY tablespoons usually empties the jar. :D

I think i am going to cry....I LOVE PEANUT BUTTER and i always thought it was bad for me. I sneak in a spoon with my oatmeal every morning.(and feel guitly) But now that i know this, HOLY SHIT! I am going to be eating like 5 spoonfuls.:D Thank you all for this GREAT NEWS. Now i can die happy.

Guys be careful with measurements. The jar states 2 tbsp as a serving size. I guarantee you that if you guesstimate your spoon sizes you will most likely double the serving size and throw off your calorie intake. The best way to eat peanut butter is by actually using a tablespoon and flattening it out with a butter knife. This is how it is supposed to be measured.

I guarantee if you did this and measured it up to your scoop serving it'd probably be half as much. Peanut butter is extremely calorie dense and if you don't measure it right you might eat more than you think and halt your fat loss.

Peanut butter is great, I eat 4-6 tbsp a day, but if you underestimate your caloric intake of it then you'll run into trouble in your diet.

Is it better spreadout throughout the day? In the morning, after workout, etc? Thank you. Your help is very appreciated.

peanut butters a good source of fat, but remember to get the sodium reduced or free type.
If not you'll blow up like a balloon and be on the shitter for an hour, gross i know, but true

And remember... ALL NATURAL... that means none of the kraft, skippy etc SHIT... not even the light stuff... all that crap is full of hyrogenated oils, sugar and some other nasty stuff

All Natural Peanut butter is the stuff that will separate at room temperature... you have to mix it before eating...

've only tried one kind... can't remember what it is

X, can you recommed a good brand of pb??

thx

M65, I usually spread mine out through the day. I don't like flax oil so I prefer to get EFAs from sources like olive oil, peanut butter, salmon, fish oil caps, etc... It doesn't matter how you get it so long as you get it. Just work it into your current diet. If you get around 10g of fat per meal then substitue a scoop of peanut butter for those other 10g of fat. I don't suggest eating it after a workout because it will slow down digestion and that's not what you want in a post workout meal.

I tend to split up my fat and carb intake so I don't eat fat and carbs together. Therefore I eat my PB with a protein shake or chicken or something. Again it's up to you and how your diet is. When I was eating fats and carbs together I used to have my PB on a slice of whole wheat toast. Somtimes I'd use low sugar jelly and have a PBJ sandwich.

Well, my CKD are pretty controlled I think it's because I've done it so long. I actually enjoy fatty fish and butter lol...My carb-up's vary, usually I have 100% controlled right by the book and I mean right by the book, but every 2-3 months I'll have some "BAD" foods. I am too much of a diet freak that's why I love to take control.lol
Now, when I diet with high-protein, I get my proteins from chicken breasts, lean-steak, eggs..etc...all the good stuff (fish too)...
Example of breakfast on high-protein:
12oz chicken breast
5 egg whites
1/2 cup oatmeal
2 tbsp. all natural peanut butter

I just goto the store and look for ALL NATURAL on the label and see the ingredients...they need to say peanuts and salt (or you could use no salt peanut butter, but i think that's too extreme)

Good Point Phenomena

I see the ALL NATURAL is an important distinction...

That I can see, the half jar thing makes more sense

Thanks

Hey, have you guys seen Jennifers pics, wow she made great progress...she looks awesome. Just gotta give two-thumbs up for her.

peanut butter does do wonders... always remember that it
takes fat to burn fat... if you are on a no fat diet...
trust me, you will have trouble burning fat...

i absolutely love peanut butter and I also consume about
a half jar a day... ONLY when bulking though... I use
a keto diet to cut up and thus can't have peanut butter
because of the carbs... even sugar free peanut butter has
too much!

Take a thin, long knife and mix it up. Works way better then spoons.

All that fat you guys are taking in kinda weirds me out, lol. I'm on a precontest diet taking in 258g protein, 162g. carbs, 16-17g fat per day.... I'm 145 and 9% bf right now.

I cant see taking in that much fat. As long as you're eating enough you'll still burn fat.

PB for me isnt worth the fat grams. I'd be done w/ my fat in just 1 serving! LOL Not worth it at all! haha. I'd rather have a big meal for that :)

AJ

AJD, you need to eat fat to burn fat. In fact, 16-17g fat is not enough for maximum fat-loss....at the
258g protein/162 g carbs/16-17g fat...this ratio comes out to: 1032cal from protein/648cal from carbs/153 g from fat =total=1835 cal
56/35/9 (protein/carb/fat %) ...in my view that's just too low...but, again, your diet is your choice.

Try, 50/30/20, I guarantee you'll lose way more body-fat.

Mr.X

Be careful it's not low fat by adding sugar. I buy a brand called Presidents Choice (PC) Just Peanuts, and thats all it is, peanuts.

When you want to mix your PB up put it in the microwave first and nuke it for a few seconds make the job a lot easier, and saves on the bent spoons.:alien:

You know, I'll tell you a funny story:

I put a jar in the microwave once and the phone rang, I of course left it there and guess what happened. The damn thing explodes and my g/f was so mad...oh man, I got it good, made me clean up the whole mess...the moral of the story kids: don't leave the jar in the microwave

Mr.X

Update...

OMG, I had PB this morning. I'm in the middle of my cutting cycle and when I tasted it, I almost had an orgasm! Unfortunately, my girlfriend walked in and gave me a "funny look" I feel much better now and PB pretty much has curbed my sweet craving.
