NYC Libs Approve 13 Story Mosque 500ft from Ground Zero [news item]

Yep. We take their oil, give them money, sell them useles weapons and take back that money. In exchange, we use guns to keep the royals in power and allow them to oppress, enforce slavery, remove human rights and keep in poverty most of the nation.

Then every now and then, a few saudi's figure out who is the puppet master behind their oppressors - and start taking flying lessons.

Exactly. I wouldn't call it a great relationship. I'd call it an "arrangement".

LOL

The US is in financial crisis and Saudia Arabia is the richest (one of the richest) countries in the world...they have some of the smartest scientists, mathematicians, thinkers, etc....you really think they are just puppets in the hands of US gov.?

If they are not getting their fair share of the deal, they would do a lot of things differently....I love it how the US always thinks they are the center of the universe...it's too funny

After hours of contentious debate on Tuesday, the board voted 29-1 in favor of the proposal, with 10 members abstaining as they forgot to bring their spine to work that day.

It's more important to keep your seat than to vote either your own mind or that of your constituency.

if you subtract political power / financial power, there's no reason why anyone would want to have a strong relationship with the US either...it's all a game of money and power anyways

I'd disagree; I'd like to maintain a strong relationship with the US & most Western nations as they share strong similarities with us; personal liberal freedom, democracy, trialled for being accused of a crime rather than just slamming you in prison, sportsmanship, intolerance of prejudice / acceptance of people regardless of religion, skin colour, gender etc.

We might bitch about how shitty the UK / USA / Canada etc is but on the whole I'm pretty fucking chuffed to be living in this country as opposed to virtually anywhere else, & I like to think our country maintains strong relations with like-minded nations regardless of where we sit in the food chain etc.

What's the average yearly income of a saudi person who isn't connected to the royals? Can women drive? Can a poor person SA post on EF?
