Ive spent some time in the ME as well.

Whats funny about you, especially your post that I quoted above, is that you sound exactly like the Bill O Reillys of the world ("THEY HATES OUR FREEDOMS!") while decrying others for doing what you think to be the same.

Theres a lot of good books on the subject I suggest you try reading.

we live in a progressive and secular nation. thats why the right wing muslims hate us. because we let women work, because we let women vote, because we allow women to not wear black from head to toe, because we have a wonderful thing called separation of church and state etc etc.

but remember we squatted in afghanistan when we were helping the Taliban and bin laden welcomed us with open arms to fight the evil commies to the north. it wasn't until we ended the cold war and let russia finger afghanistan again did he turn on us.

and yes they dont like that we squat in other areas of the middle east absolutely. but like i said that isn't the sole reason.

What are you talking about? Im countering your assertion that fundamental islam and American conservatism are the same. I never mentioned nor care why any muslims hate us. I choose not to have cable and therefore no faux noise or any other sure to be biased cable news source making claims as to why muslims hate us.
Our government is based on laws that were derived from religious values, but the government maintains secularity by seperation of church and state in the constitution. The country as a whole identifies itself more as conservative than liberal. Get informed below:

I'm writing this w/o reading the 10pp of thoughts, but my instant ramen thots are that if this were a Xchun cathedral or church next to a Nagasaki/Hiroshima bomb site there would be a plaque paying homage to those who suffered in the attack even if by "Christian" Americans. Tolerance is great, but a show of remorse and regret for what extremists did to misrepresent them would be a nice gesture of good will and a gesture with NO mincing words to keep the extremists at bay. It's should be so incredibly bold as to put a target on ITSELF for it's compassion for the infidels, should a thought even be given to such a plaque/memorial. I hope to be surprised.
