I've just started on something new. Would love to get some feedback from someone who's tried something like it, or has some exercise physiology background.
I'm doing sort of a cross between German Volume Training and Tsatsouline's Power to the People.
10 sets ea. of two antagonistic lifts, resting 60-90 seconds between sets (GVT usually lets you do 90 seconds).
But instead of 10 reps @60% of one-rep max (as in GVT), I'm doing 5-6 reps per set @75%-80% of one-rep max (as in PTP).
Like I said, I just started, (and I have to confess, I'm easing into it. 6 sets ea. this morning— squats and st. leg dead lift). Next I'll do 8 ea., then 10 ea.
I'm trying to emphasize mass and strength and growth hormone release vs. strength and endurance.
Any thoughts?
