I need help with leg training .....I blew a gasket in my back not to long ago and had surgery L5 S1 now Im not to kosher with squats ....Can anybody recomend an exercise or machine I could use to get some good results without the risk of further injury....Thanks

lunges or single leg squats? I dont think these exercises use the lower back as much as squats do.
ler extensions and leg curls, well maybe not leg curls if you go heavy, since they do tend to imcorporate your lower back. just thinking out loud here

There's no way to eliminate risk of injury, especially since you've already had back surgery. Start with leg presses. Go real light and as weight as you feel comfortable. Do leg extensions and curls as well. As your legs get stronger and if your back feels ok, move to hack squats.
