Did you try pyramiding your set?.... My chest was stuck for a little while and I did a pyramid exercise for a couple weeksand that broke the plane for me. Try doin you squats in sets of 10, 10, 6, 8 ,4. I that doesnt work i would try needsize's idea of 5 x 5

Well, just wondering, but how far down do you go when you squat? I go ass to floor.

As far as I can.

Although I CAN'T touch the floor with my bum.... (ask my legs why not me)

Infact I try to have as much range of motion as possible.

needsize, I am jealous that you can add more weight each week on your sqauts. btw, have seen your pic and goddamn you are in awesome shape.

SSalexSS, you eat alot, but do you eat the right things (as opposed to junk food)? load up on protein. have you noticed any difference within a month of squatting? I think after a month of solid squatting, you should see results, whether it be you could squat for more reps, heavier weight, are seing more size in your thighs, you are more comfortable with the exercise, etc.

I dont eat junk food anymore. And 1 inch on my thighs was the only thing I noticed ... and not sure if that was from squatting.

I eat lots of protein also not as good quiality (soy milk)

I used to progress each few days (when I tried to squat for 3 days a week).... However I have hit a plateua now...

I am taking 1 week off legs. And I will check out and see if that is the answer... Hey my bench has exploded after taking 1 week off.
SO I hope same holds true for legs.....

First, I think going ass to the floor is the most important aspect of squating and building respectable wheels. For me, the 5x5 routine, especially when I'm on creatine or now juice, and can add weight to the bar every week, always makes my legs grow

I think that's very important. I finally swallowed my pride recently and started squatting ass-to-floor. Obviously, I couldn't do as much weight, but the changes to my legs are more than noticeable. I'm going as low as possible on all my quad excercises, meaning squats, hacks, and presses. It makes all the difference.

Squats 3 times a week?!?

Yeh (or 2 twice... cant remeber), but you do few setss... no 20 set marathons.

And I know that that are what soviet athletes do for strenth in wheel department.... (cycling intensity though heavy med and light). I should try that if my other methods fail.

To grow and make new neurological and muscular increases you need to lift heavy weights, you do not even have to go through a near-complete ROM be it normal reps, partial reps(do not forget form!), static contractions, or a good combination of all, etc. -All work.

Just lifting heavy weights activates greatest amounts of motor units and will get you strong and make you grow. Make sure you are training all parts of the leg: the adductors and the abductors as well as the hamstrings, etc. Do not neglect a muscle. Use low reps(5 reps is best for test levels), low sets. Be sure when using heavy weights to take it slow and practice good form.

What is a Motor unit you may ask?

A motor unit has a motor neuron (a nerve cell that transmits nerve impulses from the brain or spinal cord to muscle tissue)
and the motor neuron's axon (an axon is an extension of the nerve cell that conducts impulses away from the neuron cell body) branches a group of muscle fibres -this axon innervates (stimulates) the muscle fibres within the group.

And what activates a motor unit: just when a weight is lifted some are activated "all-or-none response" (either all of the parts comprising a unit are stimulated or none) the intensity or how many of them active depends on the weight, heavier the weight more units will be active, less weight and lesser units will be active, activation of motor units is what governs the force that a muscle can contract.Without stimulation from motor units the muscle fibres can not grow nor make any progress.
