My first PR in 10 years!

Tonight I went 650 with wraps only on the squat which is my lifetime PR. And it felt easy and fast too! I stopped lifting in 1992 and could then do a 750lb squat in competition with full doulbe-ply suit. Tonight, after the 650lb I suited up (single ply) and went 715lb below parallel with probably another 25lb left in me. This has been my best workout since making a comeback in 1999.

I'm always happy when a fellow board member posts a PR but have been slightly jealous lately as I thought I'd never see the day again that I could do the same.

My partner for the last 2 years also got a PR of 550 @ 220lb tonight which also looked very easy. We are both preparing for our IPF Nationals on 13 July so we've only got 1 more workout on each lift left before the big day.

What I'm even more proud of is that since 1992, I haven't touched any juice whatsoever. When I started again from scratch in 1999 I had no idea that I could ever come remotely close to my roid-assisted weights ever again. Now, I know that it can be done and maybe very soon too.

Sorry about this self-indulgent post but I've got nobody else to share this with. Whether I told my wife that I squatted 700lb or 7000lb she would not know the difference!

Big congratulations on your PR... those are some damn impressive numbers.. especially being juice free, and coming back from a long time off. Keep up the good work, and keep goin up.
How much do you weigh?

What kinda suit do you wear?
And good luck in the IPF nationals!

Good job bro Im glad your hitting some PR's. I know what you mean about being jealous, I havent been able to do anything but a little bit of bodybuilding stuff for a while due to back problems but next week Im starting my journey back to powerlifting. Keep hitting PR's bro, good luck.

Thanks a lot for the replies, guys. A little bit of encouragement does wonders for my motivation going into the last week of preparation for the nationals.

Deceiver: How much do I weigh? This is the part where people get sceptical, as I weigh 350lb at 6 feet 6. Since childhood I've been bigger than all my peers so I guess I'm blessed in that regard and most people, even guys that have been training with me for years still do not accept my word for it that I'm drug-free. Its probably because so many other people lie about their drug status that a guy's word does not convince anybody.

I use a Inzer Hardcore suit that seems to work well. I'll be attempting a 682lb dead on Tuesday as an opener and maybe shoot for a 730 to 740lb squat opener next Friday.

Funny thing about my 715lb squat on Friday was that the suit did not "pressurise" my head like it normally does. When I used to go down on a heavy squat before, especially when suited, it always felt like all the blood in my body was being forced into my head, making my eyes sore and red afterwards. This time, there was none of that whatsoever. Maybe the new Hardcore suit was responsible but it sure feels nice.

Holy shit, 350 lbs! I think you are now the biggest guy on the board! The IPF abides by the same rules as the USAPL right? so there are no double ply gear or anything, and all the squats are very deep.

Nice job. and good luck

Yeah, rules probably same as USAPL. No briefs, only short wraps, single ply suits, no monolifts and strict depth. In our gym we have a monolift so I'm not used to walking back with the weight. I'm not going to open the monolift supports next Thursday on my opener to make sure that walking back is not a problem.

That is awesome! I just set a PR in the bench tonight for the first time in 20 years. But, I'm 50 lbs. heavier now and I used a shirt so it really doesn't count.

Again, outstanding!

Hey Big Arnie, you got me thinkin'. You said you were jealous of people's lifts for a while. Well, I'm jealous of almost everyone. So, I'll stop being such an a hole and start praising more. Good work man!:fro:
