My final diet question, do I need carbs following workout??

I'm planning to eat protein/carbs or protein/fats for my meals, eating the p&c meals in the morning and p&f meals in the evening. This seems like a problem to me because I can't workout before 5:30pm due to work schedule and I've always thought you need carbs following a workout. What should I do, will my diet or health suffer by not eating carbs for the last three or four meals of the day, or after an intense workout.

i would definitely recommend eating carbs after your workout, regardless of the time. go for 40-60g of simple carbs and 40g of protein.

What is the reason for the carbs with the protein shake? Does it help deliver the protein to the muscles? So should I try and do my protein&carb, protein&fat combo as much as possible except for the post workout meal?

Correct. but I also add the very next meal another p+c. Maybe someone else has an opinion.

It also refills depleted glycogen and will aid recovery after a workout
my recovery is awesome after a hard boxing session

right now im training twice a day 5- 6 days a week and it's really helping me.
When I start fight training and push this to 4-5 hours training a day then i'll see just how good it is for recovery lol

Insulin sensitivity goes through the roof within an hour after a workout, after awhile your muscles cells will develop insulin resistance. Proteins enter cells via facilitated diffusion with the aid of insulin. So make sure you have that protein shake immediately after lifting :) as well as carbs. (Your body spent a lot of its resources and wants to replete itself very badly, hence the insulin sensitivity)
