Hey Mr X I took your advice and got that book about the Bodyopus diet. Man that sounds grueling but I am always down for a good challenge. Makavelli said he was on this diet for 9 mos..... Props to him. I read the whole book today. Yeah, the whole damn book.. The only question that I didn't have answered by Mr Duchain is what sort of vitamins should I be taking along w/this diet and how much of each.

How many mg of each to keep me operational as if to say. The diet sounds like it covers pretty much everything but we all know vitamins keep the body moving.

Please let me know. Thanks. Any peeps out there been on this diet? Give me some feedback on what you went through. Thanks.

Don't have exact numbers from Duchaine himself, but generally speaking, Ketogenic diets should include a Vitamin D supplement (5000 I.U.) for possible calcium loss, thiamine (A B Complex-Vitamin supplement to cover all the B's), some extra iron from your "1 a day", magnesium, and zinc would be good too. For optimum health, it's best to take these things all year long no matter what kind of diet your on anyways.

@alex2678, thanks for the notes. Have you ever taken this diet?

Makavellie you out there? View this thread and give me some feedback. Thanks.

It's definitely not for everyone, but I've always liked it, being somewhat carb sensitive myself. I played "lab rat" on myself a few years ago and experimented with it for a bulking diet. 12 weeks I did high protein/high fat/low carbs for 6 days a week and one carb up day. I ended up gaining mostly muscle and some fat from the high calories. After 4 weeks of lower calories my abs came back and I was back to a normal bodyfat. My next bulking cycle I did a traditional 60/30/10 high carb low fat diet. My muscle to fat gain was around 50/50 and it took forever for me to lose the gained fat. Maybe it's just my body type but that was my experience with it. It can be really tough to stay on and since then I've just incorporated more of a traditional bodybuilding diet with carbs/proteins and fats, but it's really worth a try to see how you respond.

CKD's are the best diets to follow when you're 10% bodyfat and over. They are also very effective for people that tend to gain fat easily. I did it for 9 months with great results. I've tried every variation to it also and have my own way of doing it. I don't use this diet anymore since I don't get above 8% bodyfat.

I just took a regular multi vitamin and I always take 6 grams a day of Vit C. There is a mineral that can keep you out of ketosis, but I can't remember which one it is. I haven't done that diet in a few years.

Niacin maybe? I know they give it to livestock to get them out of ketosis.

so what about weight training? I tried BodyOpus, by the book, did hte carb loads over the weekends, but my strength during the week was HORRID. I was weak as could be, all poundages went down, and they didn't come back fast enough over the weekend carb up!

I'm a fatboy, ~15%. I don't want to be 15%, I want to be 10%. But I don't want to become withered and weak in the process as my fragile ego couldn't take it. :P

did you use clen/T3 while on the CKD?

so you are saying stay away from Niacin, correct?

Yeah. I did when I was doing that diet. Kethnaab my strength was great on Mon and Tuesday. It dropped by wed and thursday and friday were useless. I tried all variations of this diet and training programs. I found the best to be training your large bodyparts on Monday and Tuesday. On Wed train the smaller bodyparts. Take off Thursday and Friday. Do your depletion workout on Saturday morning and then load for 36 hours.

@Mak how many carbs would you say was the most you would intake per day on this diet? Net carbs of course. Also what sort of strength would you gain over the carb up period and what was your favorite meals to say "carb up".

I only did Bodyopus for 3 months for bulking and 2 months for cutting but for general cutting with Bodyopus, on carb up days max carbs is 16 grams/kg of lean bodyweight on day 1 of your carb up and 9 grams/kg on day 2. I kept my carb up to around a day and half instead of the two full days. (1 gram of protein per bodyweight and the other 15% of calories from fats) Never noticed any major strength loss during the week either. I'd consume a high fat/high protein shake around an hour before I trained and had good energy levels to lift heavy. I kept my sets and reps really low during the week.

During the week I ate zero carbs. Nada. All I ate was red meat, chicken, tuna, mayo, and flax oil. I took in whey protein immediately after training with flax oil. For the load the most effective carb ups are with 10-12 grams of carbs per kg of lean body mass. I found that to be most effective. Rice cakes are great for carb ups. That's what I used in the first 24 hours after I drank dextrose and whey for the first 6 hours after the depletion workout.
