Morons at the gym (the official thread)...

lately ive happened to notice a few different people that wear their lifting straps for the duration of the entire workout...

....and use their straps for every exersise... :toilet:
worse is using the belt for every exercise... think tricep press downs, cable curls, pull overs. oh yea, some of them even use gloves to throughout, like on 90lb BB flat bench.

How about the guys who do intense cardio and abs before starting to lift weights. Give me a break.

lol, these are the guys who get out of the car with their belts on, I have a theory that they also sleep in them.

there was a guy today benching 95bls with straps and a belt. and this was in the powerlifting room.

what made everything better what that there was this cute girl, about 5'2, doing squats with 125lbs which is something i have never seen before (girl doing squats with weight). she had a belt but i figured it was ok.

love it when chicks take little pink dumbells and use them right in between the squat rack..

Today I learned something.

I just finished up some rack pulls and I needed to move to safety bars up two holes to do some power shrugs. I pulled all the weight off except 135 because I was lazy and was just going to hang clean it up to the hooks. I set my grip, ripped it up with enough power to make biggt proud. Problem was my hands were sweaty and my hook grip failed and I did not catch the bar; it just flew up past my rack and fell onto the bars. Nice loud bang and everybody looked.

Most of the people there (university gym) are people that have no clue what I am doing when I am doing power shrugs or any lift that is not bicep or pec related so I do not care.

Lesson learned… get some chalk. Thinking Academy or Sports Authority will have some.

lololol... i know how u feel... at least you were in a rack my friend :)

mine almost hit the mirror when that happend to me... fell right in front of it

Morons:

They're doing a decent leg routine... leg presses 12+ plates, squats... until they get to the ab/aductor machines. They drop the pin down on the weight stack real low... and start pounding reps out and letting the weight slam. If you're going to use that machine, why draw attention to yourself was what i was thinkin'.

Today I went to do chest and tri, and in walks one of the few HGH/roid junkies in my gym. This guy is freakin massive compared to everyone else that works out in my gym. Doesn't seem too cocky, kinda keeps to himself when he workouts. He starts workin his shoulders, moves on to some DB curls. Then walks over to the SQUAT RACK and starts doing BARBELL CURLS in the SQUAT RACK. My Fing GOD. I don't care how big you are or how many roids you shoot into your ass, no one NEEDS to use a squat rack and a barbell to CURL. Grab a damn barbell and use the preacher curl bench, or anything BUT the squat rack. kthxbye.

Rant over.

That was me, asshole!! Just kidding.

IMHO, standing curls with the straight bar give me the best bi workout with the equipment I have available. Our seated curler is really weird. I sometimes do iso db curls...but I like to mix it up with straight bar curls.

Granted -- I scope out the area and make sure no one is going to use it to squat in... but at the YMCA not many people use it anyway!
