so anyway, i saw him again yesterday yelling his lungs out with 20kg's on the ez bar and so i just laughed to myself(so did everyone else).. and then he throws on 70kg on the bar = 90kg.. and starts doing the worst speed shrugs ever.. he wasn't even rotating his shoulders.. just moving em up and down up down up down.. so i decided to just keep my thoughts to my self when the fucker did something i HAD to intervene..

he drops the bar, walks around like he's some big shit now..(only weighs aprrox 70kg's i think.. your typical boyish curl fanatic).. and comes back to pick the weight of the floor with lower back TOTALLY bent, legs straight and just pulls the weight of the floor like the worst SLDL ever!! and i had to tell him about the back issue.. and this is how it went..

me : "hey dude, just out of good will. pls don't ever lift the bar off the floor with
your back bent like that cuz you'll screw it up sooner or later.."

idiot : " oh yeah.. i knew i should be using my neck to pull it up too"

at that point i just gave him the eye brow.. (dwayne johnson aka The Rock) and continued with my power cleans.. damn i wish it was legal to smack the shit out of anyone who doesn't know how to lift properly.. F*CK!!!!

I may not be reading this right, but are you telling me that up and down isnt the way to shrug?

I resent that statement. I wear some A&F clothing (not the polos because you have to have 11inch biceps to fit into a large) But some of there clothes are nice. It's pretty funny how a lot of people on ELITE talk about them like they are weak skinny gay guys. Well if you ask me, what do you guys wear then? Last time I checked HOT GIRLS love guys who where that? Unless you guys arent into girls... or are over the age 25- that would make sense.

This is a learning board. Maybe you were not aware of the benefits of stretching, and flexibility into a work-out. Here is a 54 page document that will go into much more detail about flexibility and training:

I think most people do not stretch enough and that is why I see so many people from the gym as clients. Heck as long as there are more people out there that don't want to stretch.... I guess I have plenty of job security.
You will notice a huge difference in your recovery time, building strength and muscle, as well as less aches and pain, and the list goes on. If you take anything away from this I hope that you change your mind on stretching... If not I would give you my card and say I'll see you shortly... but then again I don't want to work with people that already know what they need to do and don't.
Excuse me? I was saying a lot of newbie lifters were ignorant, i never once even said your name...wee touchy are we?
 
you ever seen the people that smuggle all the dumbells? They will have like 5 sets of all different weights at a bench next to them and people will be waiting to use them.
 
I don't have much fun stuff to laugh at at my gym - its not really hard core. I'm probably one of the scarier people there just because I'm sweating so hard...

Couple items tho:

1) There's this nice old guy in the gym -- he's in there every night and always talks to people but not in that annoying way where he doens't leave you the hell alone - he just says "hi" to the regulars. But the last 3 nights I've seen him on the same cable machine doing some sort of arm flopping pullover thingy. And his form just screams "I WANT ROTATOR CUFF & TENDONITIS PROBLEMS TO ADD TO MY ALREADY OLD & BEAT UP BODY!".

2) The guy who teaches my Butts & Guts class -- he's WAAAAY to excited about it at 5:30 am. And WHY does he insist on trying to yell "YEA! OMG! DO YOU FEEL THE BURN!" over the music blasting at volume setting "11"? Can't hear him anyway.

3) This guy who always wears white spandex shirt & bike pants. And a fag bag. I guess the fag bag sort of covers up "that".... :worried:
 
well u see these guys aren't exactly morons.. but i'm scratching my head off here.. these tag team partners are huge! i mean mr.universe huge and ripped.. and everytime i see them in the gym they'd be doing the following..

a) chins on the smith
b) bent rows, with only 50kg!! wtf?!!? high reps and frequency..
c) tri extensions with 95lbs db..
d) sitting cable pull downs for the back..
e) and some machine rowing..

and i'm like how the fuck did these guys just get so huge!?!? at their size they could prolly be squatting >200kg, benching >150 and dl-ing 250kg ors something..

then i thought to myself.. must be the fucking roids.. cuz their workout's are fucking pathetic..
 
Today some kid was doing curls with a straight bar while resting it on a flat bench between sets. He was curling away right were the spotter would be at the bench.. Oh, and he was supersetting his 'spotter curls' with close grip bench presses to hit his triceps hard (5 lbs per side). I just wanted to bench press, instead I paced around and drank too much water from the nearby water fountain until he was finished.. And, as soon as I started benching another guy took up one of the squat racks in the room to do reverse-grip curls and blast his forearms to POPEYE LAND. :)

They also might have focused more on heavy compound lifts earlier in their lifting career and now are focusing on different workouts, or maybe they have their diets down and eat like a herd of Godzillas, or maybe they've got good genetics. I'm surprised there isn't a 'gym-based' reality show yet. The Contender doesn't count..
 
u might be right.. but if so.. i don;t understand.. i've been noticing them for 3-4 months now.. and they've been doing the same shit everytime.. so could it be like they've had enough? and just wanted to maintain? if so.. wouldn't u shrink if u stopped lifting heavy?
 
I wonder what you guys would rant about in this post if you were to see guys in your gym performing exercises similar to the one on this page.

I remember the first time that I was in a commercial gym, I saw some guys doing weird, wonky exercises. Now I realise that they were performing variations of pullthroughs, glutehamraises (manual), hang pulls, push presses etc..

p.s I tried correcting a guy doing pullthroughs once because I thought "what the hell he was doing", he just gave me a wierd look. God, I feel so ashamed of it now.
