Morons at the gym (the official thread)...

I have this guy that dresses up like he's an american eagle model.. seriously. He has his AE jacket with the collar popped, and his matching green sweat pants with the stripes going down, and half the time i see him he's fixing his gelled hair in the mirror. And the guys only like 135-140. Just really tiny. And he's doing the stupidest damn lifts for himself like preacher curl and shit when he needs to just start doing bench deadlifts etc. I wanna introduce him to some mass information like this site, but don't...

I'd like to call this man the town cryer. He walks around the gym getting close to everyone and trying to start up conversations. He lets out the most annoying high pitched hyena laugh. Every 10 minutes he leaves us alone and does a strong man lift. It wouldn't be bad but the gym is small comprised of a two car garage for strongman and leg machines and a main room of only 25 by 30 feet.

here's a few i noticed recently;

so theres this dude who works out @ my gym. He's 23 and looks strong as fuck and says doing deads and squats get you big, but the dude has no idea how to lift with good form on any lift besides his precious cables. After 2 heavy sets of deads, i was warming up for front squats, and kind of just did my last 2 reps with not as great form and i realized it was off. I was only using 65 pounds. After my first warmup set, dude comes in and puts on 2 clamps and starts giving me a crash course on front squatting. This guy has never dont a front squat in his life, his heels are coming up off the ground, his range of motion is above parallel, and to top it off he has no idea where to put the bar. I wanted to tell him everything he did wrong, but he has helped me with some other stuff like skull crushers and a cable exercise lol--- i can do all the big movements, just not the iso's :)

Also, i don't care if you workout in a sleeveless shirt and look at your muscles from time to time when you lift, but please don't look at your biceps like they're angelina jolie, especially when you're weak as fuck and curls are the staple of your workout.

To those dudes who sweat a lot, please make arrangements to wipe off whatever equipment you're using in the future. There was a guy probly mid 60s benching before me, and he sweat more than a 500 pound guy in a sauna. The stench of his sweat was engraved into the bench afterwards, so i took the libery of cleaning it up.

If you're going to spot someone, please fucking spot them and don't start talking to one of your friends or the hot chick on the tredmill. Just wait until i am done lol. Both happened before with 2 different spotters.

Also, if you don't know how to do a lift, don't take the innitiative to help someone who also doesn't know how to do the lift. Today, this kid was trying to back squat and someone came to help him. He had him wear the stupid thing that supports your back, and the kid's posture was shit and his heels didn't stay on the ground. At least he was squatting below parallel- i almost went over to help, but then i realized that this old guy was paid to train him by the kids dad

I am studying in Spain right now and there is wayyyyy too much weird stuff that happens at the gym I go to. There is one guy that holds his shirt up with his teeth on every exercise to show his abs, 2 guys that spot eachother on bench by holding eachothers knees down, a guy that lifts in nothing but a puffy vest and short spandex shorts. We might end up getting kicked out of the gym for cleaning and people freak out everytime we do them. We arent allowed to use weights for abs, pullups, or dips.

A mass of 4-5 high school aged kids come in tonight, from the looks of it they train at the local MMA facility. Nothing against MMA or them as martial artists, but theyre lifting habits were annoying as hell. Throwing medicine balls, full body workouts with ten pound dumbbells and sloppy form, swarming from one area of the gym to another with some mindless routine. At some point one of them was standing on a flat bench performing deadlifts as fast as he could with 10 pound DB's...

I understand circuit training for the martial arts, hell I've done it....but this was bullshit.

ahh, no wonder discos and culture club are still popular over there. Euros

After years of going to the gym I finally noticed a squat rack curler. My gym's squat rack is rarely ever used so it's no big deal, but this guy matches a lot of the morons you guys described. No muscles, chubby, jumping up and swinging the bar to get it up. Then after that he goes over to the ez curl rack and does some more curls.

I wonder if you go to the same gym I go to. There's always this fat spanish kid, has to be in high school, always doing curls at the squat rack. I don't usually care as long as no one wants to do squats, but this kid swings his arms and arches his back like a gymnast wannabe to get these light a$$ weights up...ridiculous!

Some dude put 10s on the barbell and was like rolling them on the ground, I guess at a stretch or ab workout idk. Well anyways that wasn't the problem, the thing that pissed me off was that he was rolling under my bench and making it hard for me to lean over him to throw more 45s on the bar. Not to mention if for some reason I couldn't get the weight back up I would be dumping the bar onto him.
