More comments on physique from men or women?

Off season people ask if I'm a power lifter. As I start to cut up, I get comments on my bis & back all the time. Calves constantly. I actually have a hilarious pic from the 2005 Arnold w/ Quincy Taylor.

Mostly women who just started training are scared of me & the guys want to compare biceps.

Big goal this year is to cut down some in general.

Damn Sassy, you are tiny. :D Just kidding, you look great!!!

Roony has been tweeking her diet lately. She's gone from around 1500 calories a day (which wasn't doing shit for her), to about 1200-1300 calories a day. She's trying to find what works for her. She's got a great clean diet and is dedicated in the gym. This is just one of those instances that what works for someone, may not work for her. She's definitley trying!

Thanks SG! I don't think I'm starving myself and no, my diet has not been that hard to stick to at all. I have stuck to eating 10-12 x bodyweight which is a common formula for cutting. Other women in this forum like SG and DaisyGirl have had great success cutting on 1300-1500 cals. I myself have gone down from 23% bf to 15% bf which I'm able to maintain comfortably. I am just looking to lean out more before I add muscle.

My frame is small and I am pear shaped. The rest of my family is rather overweight, so I am not genetically blessed. There is no one formula for anyone. I'm glad to see that you have found what works for you, but I am still trying to tweak my diet and workouts to get where I want.

Wow what a great thread... I liked everyone's added two cents...
I used to get people last year tell me I had nice arms... After starting with my trainer and my bulking phase I kinda hide out in bigger clothes. I have had the occasional stare by how much weight I will be doing on a exercise but noone can really see my physique. Although sunday I wore a tighter pair of pants and two of the other trainers came up to me and said that my legs have gotten bigger. Typically not what a girl would want to hear... but it was a compliment because they both knew I was working hard on my legs.
I look up to you 40 year olds because it gives me a hope my mother did not. My mom was pretty much sick all of my life so I had I was given a bad notion growing up that once you hit 40 you end up sick and bed ridden! It's taken me many years and this board to realize that 40 is still young and not old like I once thought!

The reality here is that you are the age you let yourself become. I have a few more aches & pains than I used to - the annoying thing is that most of it is tendonitis-based which just never really goes away. Lack of use of your body will hurt you more than any amount of training. I've been blessed w/ more of a babyface than anything but I'll take what I can get. Mentally & sociallly I don't feel 40, however my tolerance for f*-ups and lack of maturity is pretty well established. Can only deal w/ select people under 30.

As far as what is "old" - even though my mom & I have been at odds for years about me eating too much protein and she absolutely hates when I compete, both she & my dad are 65 & 67 yrs old. They walk 5 miles /day every day -- they just retired as snowbirds to the Gulf Coast for the winter months, but until this year, they walked that 5 miles every day in N. Minnesota along the shore of Lake Superior in ANY weather. Tuffer than me! They also do pilates & step classes, recently incorporated some resistance training. I wish they'd eat a little more protein and do more weights because my mom suffers mostly from lack of muscle - she measured somethign like 40% bf but she's not really fat - just has no muscle. (That argument will continue forever I guess...) But they are so vibrant and just seem ageless to me.

The body does not have to go, the skin does not like being stretched out and having to shrink back that much though!

I have always had big arms, came a point for me to choose if I wanted big fat flabby arms, or big muscular arms. I went with the muscle. Cellulite on women's arms really looks disgusting IMO, and have seen it on 20 somethings.

Have had to realise that I just look like a bodybuilder most of the time.

Sometimes have to put up with negative comments, but right now, end of January, as I sit in the tea room eating a chicken breast, steamed broccolli, baby new potatoes at 10 am (usually 3rd meal of day), women from other departments walk in and give me that 'odd' eye, "how can she eat that in the morning". They are still suffering from the Christmas spread. I feel for one of the women I went to Uni with, she is just getting bigger an bigger, and it is such a struggle to lose weight. It is so much easier to maintain a muscular body.

The fat is dropping off me again, I can feel it "burning" it's this funny tingly feeling I get in my face.

I just wish the high protein diet didn't give me days when if I blow off, I can clear a room, LoL!!

High carb day today, not so bad.

Have to see my coach tomorrow, and the photographer for the website may also be there. I am so tired, and have spots!!! Oh well, at least my arms still look quite ripped!!

I know what you mean....my mom never exercised in any way & was very unhealthy & encouraged that in me...

I ski with a good number of people who are over 50 and see many people skiing daily who are in their 70s..... So age doesn't have to hold you back....

I'm more fit & athletic now that I'm 36 than I was 20 years ago - but I agree, the aches & pains are starting to creep in.... annoying!
