Meal replacements?

Are meal replacements a good way to subsitute a meal your time is limited sometimes?

Also, what are some good meal replacements and where is a good place to purchase them? Most of the local stores around here sell them, but man are the high $$$!

Yes I use meal replacements sometimes due to my job and the fact that I cant always go to the resto (time is short sometimes). Good brands ? Sports One Rx, available in both 5 lbs bucket or just the 70 g bottle. It carries creatine. Unlike Weider Rx.

Thanks Manny for the response. I have the same problem, my "job", it makes getting all those meals hard sometimes.

MetRx, MyoPlex, etc... are all good names. Try a few different brands to see if you have any stomach problems. Or which ever taste the best.

I personally make my own MPR. This way you can play with the % of pro and carbs as well as cals. This does require making your MRPs at home the night before.

Got a good easy recipe? I'm interested, need something high calories, but not a whole lot of carbs.

Do you use a powdered protein in your homemade shake? If so, how do you keep it stable overnight?

I use egg and whey for the protein. You can use carb powder, oatmeal, fresh fruit, etc for your carbs (I prefer carb powder just for easy of mixing).

I never premix any of my shakes. I will put my protein and carb powder in a shaker cup then add water when I'm ready for my meal. I blend the rest at home/work as needed. I have my own grocery store at work...sweet :D

You can add Nat peanut butter or any other EFAs for extra cals if you’re on the CRUM diet or just staying away from carbs (for U Reid232).

Another plus is that you can add dextrose for a great post workout shake (but I recommend separating dextrose and protein for post recovery). This allows you to purchase 3-4 different products (proteins, complex carb powder, and dextrose) and be able to really play with your body by the different mixes of the products!

There are no really recipes: I might throw in some cinnamon, vanilla favoring, skim milk, chocolate pudding mix, etc...Depending if I'm cutting or bulking.
