It should be harder to get married in the first place. Sort of like handing out the championship trophy at the beginning of the season without having to work for it. There is then no value for that trophy.

Yep. Cut down the divorce rate by making absolutely sure that people can handle getting married.

It won't drop the 50% divorce rate down to 0, but I think it would help.

This makes sense to me too. I think the divorce rates pretty clearly show that marriage isn't the same thing as it once was so maybe it is time to tweak the definition. While I haven't been married I'd certainly say I should be put through rigorous testing in order to do so. I can't do anything right.
