Who really cares who wins the All Star game anyway? It isn't so much a competition as it is a showcase.

Wasn't it awesome to see Torii Hunter make an awesome catch to rob Bonds of a homer. Then Bonds comes back in his next AB and hits a bomb? Or Schilling throwing straight gas to A-Rod and A-Rod knowing it is coming and Schilling still punched his ass out?

Only thing that sucked was no MVP. Although I think it would be hard to figure out. Of course it seemed BK Kim would be the MVP for the AL.

I dunno, I kinda like to see the game end with a definitive finish. I always root for the AL, personally.

It's a game. I understand that they do this for a living, but come on...they pitched 2 whole innings, and they can't go anymore?

And they should've picked an MVP from both teams if they were gonna call it a tie.

Sorry to those that enjoy the sport but I hope baseball self destructs. It's so boring and the players are way over paid. I think watching college or semi pro sports is more interesting because the players have a goal to achieve. I think most pros lose that focus.

The reason they only pitch x amount of innings is so that everyone can get in. The reason they didn't want the last 2 guys to go anymore is they still have a responsibility to their teams. They go another inning then there is a chance that they would be on the shelf for tomorrow. What if Padilla would have gotten in a jam and wound up throwing or having to throw 30 - 40 pitches in the 12th inning? Since his pitch count was high would they just stop the game right there????

I like statistics.
But baseball is even boring from *that* perspective.

3 hours of a very very slow moving game. Drunken announcers. Smelly, belligerent fans.

The only reason it ever became America' sport is because it's the first sport we invented.

I really wanted the NL to win! I don't think fans are going anywhere, even with this and the upcoming strike. Next record breaking streak and we'll be all over their nuts.

I understand all that, but I still think it's a rip. I don't know how the old-time pitchers managed to go longer and go fewer games between starts, but it seems like starting pitchers are pitching less and less these days.

Couple reasons........ they go with a 5 man rotation now instead of a 4 man. They have "specialists" in the set-up guys and the stoppers.
