Does anybody eat LUNA bars... it must be the best
tasting bar out there...

10 grams protein
4.5 grams fat
24-26 grams carbs

it tastes like a rice krispies treat...

i've had them, and they taste very good. But, I used to eat them when I was running everyday for good amounts of time. If you are trying to add mass, then the sugar (and fake sugars that aren't considered sugars by the FDA) come into consideration. Even if you aren't, there's tons of cheaper and just as tasty stuff out there that most people would recommend over the bar.

I've noticed better progress after ditching the Solid Protein bar, which is supposed to be one of the best building bars out there.

Now, I just make chicken sandwiches with some cottage cheese and take those with me. Also, I'll make kidney been, chick peas, tuna sandwiches, and other great protein/complex carb meals instead of bars. It's a LOT cheaper ( I use this money i save up to buy fish fillets every now and then), and you'll like the taste of these meals just as much if prepared to ur liking.

I'm not a big fan of protein bars....when i spend on protein, i buy the shakes (isopure ) and protein rich foods (chicken breast, fillets, egg whites, beans, etc.) Also, this way, you can cycle your diet so you don't eat teh same thing everyday or something (fish fillet sandwich one day, tuna one day, turkey another is much more enjoyable). Good luck

abrocketsfan...

you mentioned running... well....

i'm looking for a bar thats good for someone thats a long
distance runner... and taste is a major concern!

what kind of distances were you running and what made you
choose the luna bar as your energy source?

Cozmokramer,

Of course, I have to put my .02 in lol...I've tried them, just too much sugar. To tell you the truth, my mom (just like Agent Shagwell's) is hooked on these bars. Hmmm, I guess there is more to them then protein lol :D

P.S. they would be very good for runners, but if long distance I would add some low-gi carbs to the combo

Kozmo,

gotta agree with you....Luna's are some good shit...Little pricey (I think I can get them for around $1.39 at my local grocery store), but they are tasty. Only bad thing about them is, if you are taking them as fuel during a run (like your friend might be doing), most have chocolate in them (at least the good ones - Smores, nutz over chocolate and the pecan pie one), which can make one helluva mess if you run where it's hot (I'm in Texas....can you say scorching?). Then again, that's pretty much gonna be the case with most of the energy bars...unless you go for the gatorade ones (like flavored rice krispy treats), or Cliff (don't really care for the consistency of these...gotta wash 'em down with a ton of water), but even these can get pretty sticky in extreme conditions. If it's not a "during race" meal, then go for luna, or maybe even balance. I think the balance bar yogurt honey peanut and the honey peanut are pretty damn good, and they are usually right around a dollar (.99 at my store).

For protein, I just found PowerBar Protein. Pretty tasty (the two flav's i've had), 24 g of protein and about $1.30+ in price. Cheaper than some of the other's (EAS Myoplex and Pure Protein are two that come to mind) and good flavor.
