EXRX.net, a much respected source of bodybuilding information says that a single set delivers 95% of gains. It seems to imply that larger number of sets are just psychologically satisfying but not very useful.
This sounds very different from what most people here do.

Any comments?

I'm not exactly a H.I.T. jedi or anything but my own experience and mistakes in the past have taught me to hit it hard, hit it quick, go home, eat, rest, and you will grow. 2 and 3 hours in the gym will get you nowhere fast.

ive heard there is a similar study. regarding single sets and sets of 3. the single set group made just as good of gains as the triset group. it was on ptonthenet.com i think. my buddy printed it out, he reads alot over there. i like to hang in the trenches over here. hehehehe. :fro:

You dont need to do MEGA sets in my opinion, hit a couple at max effort and get out and eat. Why do more than is required?
