leptin question

can someone tell me why a bodybuilder who wants 2 loose the last lbs of body fat wouldnt benefit from just sticking with a daily consuption of moderate carbs as opposed to the weekly reefeeds to raise leptin?with sufficient protein and efas of course im thinkin of using this strategy to get down to 8% from 12% bf.thaughts appreciated.

Insulin levels will be higher overall with daily carb consumption - not ideal for burning fat. With weekly refeeds instead, you're only getting a little infrequent burst of insulin for enough of an elevated leptin benefit to keep fat loss humming along.

Ceebs is a chick, btw.

Increasing your carbs on a daily basis to a moderate level isn't going to increase your leptin levels - increasing your kcals will. Unfortunatley, increasing your kcals on a daily basis usually isn't an option if you're cutting. That's why people do the weekly controlled refeeds - large increase in kcals coming from a macronutrient source shown to boost leptin levels. You won't get the leptin boost without the large increase in kcals.

i was planning on having a few days of huge refeeds before opting for the mod carbs.the idea was to slow down the decrease in leptin over a longer period of time.it was just 1 of my many pointless ides :) also i do hiit 6days/week so i was thinkin i could benefit greatly.btw that "bro" thing was a typo!

I'm really not too sure about this whole leptin thing anymore. Leptin's only been shown to work for a small percentage of people without a genetic defect in their ob gene. And this is with actual leptin injections. Now refeeding for the purpose of replenishing muscle glycogen sits well with me, but the whole leptin issue doesn't anymore. Anyone have any scientific references and studies devoted to leptin and refeeds on active people trying to lose weight?

Leptin injections have been shown to work now.

There was defect in prevoius studies (those you are referring to). The manner they were distributing leptin was flawed.

Lyle's book on Bromo covers this if you have it.
